Declaration of Principle

Declaration of Principle

Today at church, while I was reciting our ministry’s declaration of principle, I thought I really need to create a declaration of principle for my own life. What exactly am I about and what am I declaring with my own existence? Don’t I need to have that memorized in my subconscious mind and be executing it in every deed and action that I do daily?

I know that in business and in churches it is a great idea to create a declaration of principle and a mission statement that is precise and effective, not only for everyone in the corporation and business to get on the same page, but also to distill your brand and your ideas into concise thoughts and ideas, so your community can begin to live and work with unity toward your corporate goals each day.

So, I thought that I would share some thoughts about everyone who is reading today this doing a declaration of principle together. What thoughts would we want to be in our declaration?

1.     What kind of person I am?
2.     My vision of my personal development
3.     What I do by trade?
4.     What is my passion?
5.     And most importantly, how will I use all of what I am to effectively be a mover and a creator in the world?

So, my statement might read:

I am a strong, passionate, and authentic man who is not afraid to be sensitive and honest. I am by trade a Life Coach and Clinical Hypnotherapist, I teach my own version of yoga called Boga Fitness, I’ve written twelve books, I’m a vocal coach and a vegetarian chef.  I am a piano player, a singer and speaker.  And, most importantly I believe I’ve been put on this earth to help people find their personal paths to authentic change.

This statement might be something that I print out and add to my vision board or place on my bureau mirror to remind me daily of what I stand for and what I want to reflect each day to those I work with and my friends and family.

We need reminders of who we are everyday. So many factors affect us daily that can change our disposition from a calm and peace warrior being a crystal in the chaos, to suddenly being an angry child recreating an old behavior from our past. I need to be reminded of whom God see me as. I need to be reminded that I am not just a human being, but I am a spirit in a human body playing out my truth—daily.

So, developing a way to communicate this truth to myself every day is a great way to challenge myself to be a bigger and better human being.
