You do not have to be empathic to be able to sense that a person or a job or a place that you visit has bad energy attached to it. You simply have to be sensitive and trust your instincts. I have heard people say, “When she came into the room, I felt cold shivers rush through my body!” Or, “In his presence, I felt nothing but peace. I found myself sharing things I have never shared with anyone.” Well, of course, these are ways of understanding the energy of certain people in your life.

Ultimately, the litmus test is peace for good energy and for bad energy, the lack of peace. If you feel a cold vacuum when you are in a place or around someone, in particular, then you know that this person or place is probably not going to be an energy that will benefit you. You do not need to be spiritually inclined and sensitive to feel Spirit in these instances. You simply have to be AWARE.

I speak much of meditation and connection to spirituality, because if you do not have these aspects of understanding, you may completely miss that Spirit is helping you understand the world by giving you clues. Spirit always wants to protect you and keep you whole, by leading you on a path that is clear and true and in relationships that are perfect for you. It is your own human desire to heal old, past relationships that you keep going back to the same type of person. Spirit would have you heal your old relationships by creating brand news ones that mirror the love of God.

In this New Year, let’s think about the idea that Spirit only wants for us a brand new and wonderful life, every day, and every moment. You can not see your new wonderful life if you are facing away from the NOW and looking at your old past and your old mistakes. We learn from trusting the spiritual leading we feel in our hearts.

Sometimes, we make the wrong decisions and get led by our lusts and our longing to be liked and appreciated. But, only Spirit can show you the perfect way of enlightenment. So, if you do not develop a relationship with Spirit in meditation and prayer, then you never really feel the benefits of your spirituality leading you on this earth plane.

A commitment to developing this right and perfect relationship with God is your first order of business in the New Year. Trust me. Just make some time to read something spiritual and to sit quietly everyday. Your entire life will change. If you need help figuring out what to read, simply ask for help. For years I rested on my laurels, thinking that when I needed prayer that I could simply go to a minister or a prayer practitioner to help me manifest something in my life. For a long time I ignored the truth and principles that I needed to learn to help my spiritual walk manifest with strength and power.

Today is the day that you might consider this possibility: What if someone is not available at the time of your prayer? Even worse, what if you choose the wrong person to help you manifests your life’s goals? Instead of using principle, this minister sets in motion a prayer of poverty. Then, to make matters worse, you say, “Amen,” with trust, and double the prayer action.

So, in other words, when you place someone else in control of your divine destiny, many things can go wrong. We wonder why we have been in New Thought for so long and the much-needed change we pray for is still not manifesting. Many of you are still going to traditional churches, afraid to leave your old friends and families, and pray prayers over and over again with ministers who know nothing about what you have been avidly practicing in your personal time with books by Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Eckhart Tolle, Louise Hay, and the like.

When you go out on the Interstate to drive and do not remember the basic rules of driving, whose fault is it when you get pulled over by a policeman? When you try to make toast with a broken toaster or in a kitchen where the electricity is turned off, whose fault is it when your toast does not brown? In other words, the Laws and Principles of Spirituality are all around you, have been taught to you week after week, and still you do not take the responsibility of learning the way to pray effectively in your life.

Also, what I hear more than anything is: “I cannot meditate! I will not meditate. I just do not have the time. I cannot sit still long enough. I cannot get my mind to shut off!” Well, now would be the time to ask for instruction, not prayer. Or read a book about it and learn how to meditate. I promise you, no real spiritual change will occur in your life until you can separate your spiritual self from your human self. This happens in the observer mind as you meditate. So, if you are not meditating and, at least, trying to discover this reality, you are not walking toward your highest spiritual self.

I am writing to encourage you to take responsibility of your own walk. You are probably the kind of person that controls everything in your life, BUT your spiritual walk. Will you ask yourself why? Do you think you are not powerful enough, good enough, or moral enough to make your prayers become effective?

Let me leave you with this one thought. There are many, many people who have no morality at all, who understand the Laws and Principles of receiving from the universe. These people are using their good for terrorism and building castles for themselves to the sky. If you were to be able to manifest in the same way as these men and women, where would you put your wealth and prosperity?

The world needs you to grow up spiritually, so that you can counteract the negativity in the world!

“To the person who can perfectly practice inaction, all things are possible,” is an ancient saying passed down through the ages by sages and spiritualists. An ancient practice taught by these same sages was to hold your hand over your heart and say, “Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful me!” This was to help people regard that which God had created as godlike. Since man and woman are created in the image of god, their reflection is that of God. This is known as High Invocation.

The more you can put away old belief about not being good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, or spiritual enough to manifest the nature of God (this is the inaction, in my estimation), the more you become like God in all ways.

I remember a time that I went to a meditation with a highly regarded teacher. Hundreds of people waited very long for the teacher to arrive, because she was caught in traffic from the airport. Without anyone’s instruction, most of us sat there quietly with our eyes closed, meditating, holding a sacred place for the moment she arrived.

As my eyes were closed, I noticed, in a twinkling, that entire room changed both metaphysically and physically. It was as if a vacuum had sucked out the negativity. We were all blessedly sitting in the presence of God. I opened my eyes for a moment and realized that the spiritual master had been sitting there for a while. We meditate together for about an hour, which seemed to fly by in the perfect presence of peace.

After the meditation, the teacher talked about finding peace. In her dissertation she reiterated many times that finding peace is about dissolving old thought and sitting blissfully in the nothingness! What she explained was exactly the experience I had in the moment she arrived. I felt as if I were floating in perfect peace.

Unfortunately, getting back to that place of peacewas difficult, because I had regarded all of my own thoughts and actions as more important than the peace in the nothingness. But to get to peace, I had to get my actions out of the way. My inaction is what garnered the peace.

Yes, it’s a paradox. But, perhaps one we all need to recognize and behold to balance our own thoughts with that of our spiritual life. To see God is to behold ourselves and each other in truth. So, experiencing a part of this perfect peace opened a part of my heart that I had never known existed.

Since that time, meditation has been simpler, because I understand the aim is not to stop thought, but simply rise above it and observe it. The aim is to get out of the way of peace, by realizing that all of my human thoughts could not manifest anything without the power that exists in that peace. So, after I plant the seed of my human thought, I simply release it into that divine nature and wait in the silence for God to do the rest.

Author Dennis Merritt Jones posted a quote on his Facebook page by G. K. Chesterton: “There are two ways to get enough: One is to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.”

I am certain that I have felt the extremes of both in my life. As I grow older, I see the need for less and less. I feel as if I am becoming a minimalist. Of course, if you saw my home, you would think I have more trinkets and paintings on the wall than 90% of society. However, for me, this is minimal, compared to my home I had in Nashville. In other words, I like nice things, but possessing them seems to be more of a “weight” than a blessing these days.

Having more produces a few different feelings. If you have possessions that are expensive, you also carry the burden of someone stealing or destroying what is yours. I remember a Faberge Egg that someone bought me a long time ago for Easter. I left it in its box that looked as if it were a throne for the egg. Yet, every time I walked by it, I wondered if it were in a safe enough place. Eventually, the fear led me to buying insurance on the Egg. Can you imagine? Someone buys you a gift to enjoy. Instead, you end up being so fearful it will break that you spend $10 a month on insurance to make sure you can replace it if it does break.

Eventually, I ended up selling the Egg because of that reason. It was in mint condition, so I had no problem selling it. But, I never bought or received anything of that value again, and I am glad. I do not want the fear that goes with having precious trinkets.

I bought a new car a couple of months ago. Almost immediately, on a dark evening, not knowing where I was going, I ran over an embankment that caused my new car to have a few minor scratches. The scratches were almost a relief. Now, I do not have to treat the car with any undo stress. I’m going to leave the scratches and not get them fixed to remind me that the car is just a vehicle.

You may be saying that what I have been teaching is more about prosperity, not being a minimalist. Why am I all of a sudden talking about wanting less? Well, that’s a good question. Prosperity is not all about THINGS. Prosperity is about a feeling of abundance existing for all in the universe, and the abundance is always yours and everyone’s. What you do not want to possess is a feeling that lack exists for you. So, I teach much about eliminating that fear, because lack does not coincide with the Law of Prosperity.

My litmus test is always: Is what I want to attain going to give me peace or take away my peace. Of course, if anything takes away your peace, what good is having it anyway.

Peace and joy are the goal. So, we may be more apt to want abundance in the form of a secure bank account so that we can spend our money where Spirit leads us.

Remember, your money and your abundance is of no good unless it is serving you and the greater good at the same time. Your joy is important. But, do not underestimate the power in the good that you can always give back to the world by being financially blessed. Giving always exponentially blesses you more than even the good you give yourself.

WHEN YOU PRAY: Believe that You Have… and You Shall Receive! #spiritualprincipal #divineMind #SOM #Christmas

The Master Teacher, Jesus, taught us “to pray, believing that we have, and THEN, we shall receive.” The word shall does not mean immediately. It denotes the future. He specifically does not say, when you pray you will receive what you want right then.

So, saying what you need is Step 1. Believing is Step 2. And then, waiting for God, is Step 3.

Why is it that we wait for everything in life: our pay checks, plants to grow, fruit to ripen, relationships to develop, but we have trouble believing in the one consistent message of Jesus: Wait upon the Lord?

We are a race of anxious people. We have a Santa-Claus mentality when it comes to receiving our good. Not many people are willing to work for… or wait for… anything in this world. Remember the days when you wrote a letter? You would have to wait for the receiver to get the letter, write back to you, then for the mail to deliver the letter.

One bit of communication could take three weeks. Where now, all we do is open our cell devices, send a message to any part of the world, and we immediately get answers. When we don’t receive with immediacy, often we move on, barely ever wanting to wait for anyone or any reward. What kind of people are becoming and are we raising our children to be?

I know with certainty that we cannot stop how quickly the world is moving toward fast-paced communication, but for important things that we know must take time and faith, we also must learn a different methodology for our desires. This method is called prayer and faith, the method of Jesus!

For instance, if you want a loving relationship, you may need to wait for the right person to come along. Moving through fifteen different on-line dating sites, still, will not manifest the person you are meant to love fully. But, if you insist on trying so hard, because of your anxious need to be fulfilled; you will, indeed, find someone—but, perhaps, not the someone you have prayed for. This kind of anxious behavior may be manifesting from Anxious Attachment Disorder, which resulted from a strong need to bond with a loving parent as a child.

But, instead of working through this issue now clinically with a professional, we circumvent traditional ways of change to get what we need right now. I wonder how this will manifest in the long run.

My suggestion is that you balance your immediate lives with some contemplation and meditation each day, so that you can observe yourself and your decisions and rectify those places in your life that you control or manipulate.

A contemplative life, will also let you know when you need to wait for God, because you listen to your thoughts and to your body in a consistent way. Also, too, you will develop a stronger spiritual connection, which will give you peace when you make decisions that support your loving life.

This year was about letting go of my control of the things I have no business trying to control. This Christmas Eve and day was a prime example of the lessons learned by this hard truth. I allowed myself to observe and yet be a part of everything in my world. I watched those who tried to control without success. I saw in the stressed eyes of those who desired a perfect outcome, helplessness in the face of difficulty. And, also, too, I noticed the people who really had let go and allowed for the perfect and best to manifest in their lives, simply by being in the middle of the NOW with all of its great mystery and loving energy.

My holiday began by taking a break from my Blog, which I almost never do. Instead, I read, snuggled up with a cup of hot coffee and my beautiful puppy, Coco. I then did some yoga. I shared brunch with a dear friend who told me he had no one to have Christmas with. Initially, he rejected my offer to get together, but later he accepted. This was the absolute perfect way to begin my day. Nothing was planned. Everything felt organic and perfect.

After lunch, I decided to see if anyone needed an Uber ride at Christmas. I ended up picking up the greatest mother and daughter and bringing them to a beach brunch with family. Our conversation was lovely spontaneous and insightful.

When I got home, my sister and I did some final preparations for gag gifts, which is a family tradition in our home. We laughed and carried on like little children. From there, I said a goodnight prayer with my sweet friend, David in Dublin, before his Christmas night was over.

Soon, the immediate family began to arrive at our home. All of the food manifested aromas that would make one want to jump out of her skin and into the table, head first. After the feast was completely ready and piping hot, 10 of us, said a blessing about everything we were grateful for.

This touched the deepest place in my heart. Most especially, my sister Lori’s prayer, “I’m so thankful to God for bringing the whole family together in Florida. You have no idea how much love I feel with you here now. I feel so blessed and so joyous.” I absolutely knew what she meant, as the struggles of leaving my home base of 27 years to spend my life now with my immediate family surrounding me appeared so different, wonderful, and perfect, all at the same time. I would have never guessed I would be here in this moment.

But, the best part of the evening was relinquishing my 25-year job of being Santa to my nephew. I got to sit on the couch and completely enjoy the evening. Again, letting go played the best part of life. The family laughed, cried, and had the best time we had ever had together.

“Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…” Waiting… waiting… and more waiting, on lines, in cars, in airports, in traffic, and at checkout counters. But what are we truly waiting for? Santa Claus? Gifts from on high? Presents from loved ones? Family members to return home for a visit?

It does seem like this holiday holds a lot of people captive in the waiting game. Last night on the news, because of severe weather, there were millions of people trapped in airports in transport to their perspective destinies… probably going home for the holidays.

This year, I decided that I would NOT fill my holiday with waiting. I would live in the moment, attracting what I need, when I need it. The difference in my anticipation of the holiday has been miraculously changed.

I seem to be observing more and noticing tension and anticipation before it arises and realize that I do not need it to participate in the joy of the holiday. Staying peaceful and watchful has helped me enjoy the time with my family, friends, and church and focus in on the feelings that arise from this holiday.

I decided at the last minute to participate in a Christmas Eve musical show at The Center of Spiritual Living, in a supportive role, which is usually not where I end up. So, instead of feeling anxious about solos and such, I am just rolling along with the flow… observing, drinking up love, and flushing out all that no longer serves my holiday spirit.

It’s a great feeling to experience this holiday with no anxiousness. I highly recommend it. But, for those who are parents, I doubt it would be possible, especially if your intention is to appease your children during this season with food, presents, and the like. Trying to appease or satisfy anyone is always a challenge, because Truth would show us that we can satisfy no one but ourselves.

Contrarily, in the peace we give ourselves, we can promote others to a sense of self-love and truth that will inspire each to be gracious for all gifts given, to give graciously as well as receive, and expect nothing but love. If we taught this to our children, instead of indulging them with too many gifts to appreciate, maybe our children would not feel such entitlement and could actually receive the biggest gift of the season: The rebirth of love to the world!

In a holiday time where most of us are either thinking of buying gifts or wondering what we might receive, this is the perfect moment to define our own spiritual belief and the gifts that Spirit has for us in the abundance of the universe.

When we see no contradiction in our thoughts, in our belief, and in our idealism of what God is and continues to produce in our lives, the Gift Itself will manifest in all ways true and perfect.

Your spiritual reservoir of love and power, which you get from meditating and focusing your energy on the grandiosity of Love, is always willing to help you, manifest for you, and co-abide in you. There should always be enough for you to have what you need and, also, more than enough to share. In a world where there is you AND I, not you OR I, Spirit will always provide enough for those who need our help along our spiritual path.

Unfortunately, many spiritual believers think that God is in the business of only providing through them a vehicle to help others and not produce abundance of spirit, mind and body for the spiritual seeker him/herself.

I am not of that ilk. I believe that gift this season, and every season, is knowing that we have a Spiritual Source that produces and manifests the continually growing universes. How can we look at ITS magnificence and NOT know that we are creators made in the form and likeness of this amazing power?

It is your gift to yourself this holiday season to see the metaphor in all of this gift giving! See that the greatest gift has been given to you from the beginning of time from God. Your connection to God and to all is the ultimate gift. From this place of Oneness, we can help others, manifest greater love on this earth, and provide for ourselves and those around us all that we could ever imagine needing or wanting.
