Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: What Are You Waiting For?

I waited most of my life for someone or something to make me or encourage me to my greatness... It is time for all of us to stop sitting on our hands and step into your wonderful dreams now! Read about how you can...

What Are You Waiting For?

I spent almost my entire life waiting for others to make my life to happen. As an actor, I waited for producers and directors to choose me. As a singer, I waited for people to buy my album and record companies to promote me. As a writer, I waited for agents, then publishing companies to deem my work successful. And the big waiting game, I anxiously longed my entire life for a relationship that would make me happy! But the big truth is: What was I waiting for?

All of life and everything wonderful is always ours by Divine Right. If you believe that you have to wait for your good to happen, you put your mind in a constant state of homeostasis, feeling as if life is about waiting, not doing—gestating, not creating. My life changed completely three years ago when I decided to take my own career into my hands and stop waiting for my good to come to me. I decided that the seven books that were not published just sitting on my computer needed to be manifested. I didn’t begin this process thinking, who will buy my books? I did this take my career into my own hands and into the hands of Divine Law. By doing so, I showed myself and the universe that I could take my ideas, make them into books, and put them on the Internet for people to buy and honor. I started a brand, called Finding Authentic You that would house all of my products and services. I made the mold big enough for divine spirit to fill it with all good, happiness, contentment, satisfaction, and prosperity.

As I set out to produce a life that was totally inspired by Spirit, I knew that I wanted to dedicate some of my good to the earth and to the greater good. I think this is an important aspect of offering in whatever unique way you produce. Remember, you plant the seed—God grows the tree. You make the mold—God fills the mold with divine substance. So, your part is here to do NOW, not tomorrow.

Once you do your part, then you wait to see the manifestation of your good, already knowing that you have done your part and the universe, according to God’s impenetrable Law, must come forth in powerful, prosperous, and wonderful ways. Your only duty is to step forth as a warrior and take your masculine energy (it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman—the masculine energy is the manifestation of action) and step into your dream NOW!

So, stop sitting on your hands and begin to make your life happen! This life is yours to live now. If you’re older, you know that life goes by like a flash of light. So, what you have set out to do with your human existence must start immediately; otherwise, you will spend the rest of your days simply waiting for that which you should have produced through the divine working of the Law. It’s like giving a child some playdough and telling him/her to create something. The playdough is divine substance that God has given you and said, “Make something—anything, my child—out of my divine and perfect energy. And this ‘something’ shall be yours to offer the world.”

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: If You Make the Mold, Who Fills It?

Have you ever considered that Spirit can only answer prayers according to how specific you are about what you want and need? If you take a thimble to the ocean, you can only carry away a thimble full of water... Read on.

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: If You Make the Mold, Who Fills It?: Today, I’m reminded of my childhood, when I lived very near a steel mill. I often would watch the strong metals melted down to a molten for...

If You Make the Mold, Who Fills It?

Today, I’m reminded of my childhood, when I lived very near a steel mill. I often would watch the strong metals melted down to a molten form, flowing seemingly from the sky into a huge tub. This liquid metal would be poured into molds and shapes to make more rigid and enduring metals, creating beams, knives, fences, pots and pans, tools, utensils, vehicles, etc. Our consideration today is about creating a Divine Mold with our prayers. Then with this intention, understanding the concept of Divine Energy filling that mold to our request.

Ernest Holmes says: “We should be very careful not to think that because we make the mold (with our prayers), that we must create the substance (that fills the mold)… The molds are made in our subjective minds, through conscious and specific thought… The substance is… Universal Energy.”

What I take from this reading is that, when we set out to pray with intention, we create a mold or a template from which we allow spirit to fill that mold with Divine Substance. From the ether Spirit creates and manifests that which is already in existence in the Mind of God by fulfilling our essential desires.

What a relief, actually, to think that we don’t have to set out to actually fill the mold, that the hard part of the process, Spirit does. We simply rest in the knowledge that the Grand Consciousness is always operating upon a law of mind in which our thoughts are becoming reality—whether negative or positive.

So, let’s look at an example of creating a dream. You discover that your hearts delight would be to have a partner with whom to share your life. When you define this dream by means of creating a mold that is specific to what you want and need, then Spirit goes about filling that mold.

What you need to understand, though, is that mold is specific to what you intend. So, if you just said, “I want a partner to share my life,” then the spirit is free to act on your behalf in any way it sees fit. So, as one minister shared, she prayed that specific prayer and ended up with a puppy dog. She didn’t ask for a human. She didn’t request an intimate partner. She treated for a generic partner to bring joy and share life.

I know for certain, my dog fills that roll perfectly in times of needing unconditional love. However, my dog doesn’t fulfill the role of someone of like mind who would love me intimately and personally. So, it is up to us to “intelligently” respond to the intellect of Universal Mind. We also must meet this mind with passion and feeling to drive our prayer to Source.

So, today, as you create your next prayer or desire, think about with what specificity you build your mold for spirit to fill with divine substance. Make each prayer and request as if you see the pertinent outlines, but allow Spirit to give you the greatest and best, even beyond your own belief.

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: Bloated Nothingness

Are you getting in the way of your own greater good? Read on.

Bloated Nothingness

In a class about prayer, last night, our assignment had a passage from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s writings, which said: “When we stand in the light, we cast a shadow across the pathway of our own experience.” He then suggests that… “you get your bloated nothingness out of the way of the divine circuits.”

During our class discussion, some of the participants said that this bloated nothingness was nothing more than our Ego standing in the way of God’s perfect intention. Some said that it was our human self, with a small s. Some insisted that we get out of the way, entirely, from the process of the ONE spiritual power creating on earth.
First of all, I believe that we can only perceive a shadow in our lives, if we face AWAY from the light of God. So, our bloated nothingness may be simply that part of each individual that seeks to strive for an egocentric desire, outside the will of Spirit. In doing so, we can easily create a world made of ego matter, but we will, then, not be contributing to the greater good of Love on the earth.

What I learn from Emerson’s writing is simple: We know that Spirit is All Powerful and All Loving, and that we are a part of that love and power. We can use this power for good or for selfish, negative needs. The Law of this Loving power gives us the license to create without judgment—good or negative.

The decision to choose to live as a conduit for the Light of the Greater Good is up to you. When we pray or simply think thoughts, we are continually creating in our lives with the matter of our brains. The more passionate we get about the thought, the more creative energy moves toward that creative thought. So, if we are insistent that we are poor and everything in the world is against us, the Law of Love will allow you to create this effect in your life.
However, should you wish to create WITH the substance of love, you may be led by the wind and by the Divine current to move in a direction, different that you had initially imagined. This is the power of Love that can grow the plant, when the ego cannot. (We plant the seed. God grows the tree. God has the hard part.)

So, this loving power always wants you to be in joy and love; however, this power allows you the right to make your own choice in your thoughts and in prayers. The Spiritual power is intelligent and seeks to be led to the best through our intelligent use of this power.

So, don’t stand in the way of your greatest and best, by seeking the smallest good for yourself. Instead of praying for enough money to get you through the month, intend that all the resources of creation are working together for your good to always have more than enough to be happy, healthy, and peaceful. Get your bloated nothing thoughts out of the way of Unlimited Good, and you will find yourself richer and happier than you could ever possibly imagine.

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: The Catapult Effect: Answered Prayers

When your prayers are answered, then what?

The Catapult Effect: Answered Prayers

In the past six months I have been praying and treating (which is a form of effective prayer) for something very specific. I pray with passion and with certainty almost every time I meditate. I feel certain that our passion drives love to effective prayer.

Because this particular manifestation is so important to my future as a human being, I’ll tell you that Spirit has opened a doorway to an answer to my consistent prayer. The answer was so specific, so pertinent, and completely holds every aspect of my wishes in one particularly delicate moment in time. I absolutely know that the gift sits before me waiting to be opened.

Funny, now, you would think that after praying so long, I would have expected what was so perfectly designed and choreographed by Spirit. And, not only expected, but would be thankful. However, as the prayer was being answered, I knew in my heart that something special had changed—shifted—and that I would never be the same. But, in that next moment, a couple of negative emotions came up: Am I ready for this? Am I worthy for happiness? And is this another chance to make the same mistakes all over again?

This is where the catapult effect comes into play. On the path of life, sometimes we come to places that we must leap over to get to the next stage of our lives; otherwise, we would have to stay on the same side of our mistakes and past forever, holding the fear of falling closer to our hearts than the expectation of landing in a secure place. So, with a new manifestation of good in our lives, sometimes, we must take a running start and leap, as high, and as long as can, catching the wind of Spirit for some extra help to get to the next step of our destination. As we do so, we feel freer and stronger than ever.

As one who believes in the power of manifesting through prayer, I must also have the passion and the fortitude to accept God’s gifts and be thankful! Today is a day to remember something wonderful that you had prayed for in the past and received. When this gift appeared in your life, what exactly did you do to accept the gift? How open were your arms? Then, how did you express your gratitude to God?

Coming Up: Gratitude!

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: Learning Alone

Having trouble getting quiet and being alone: this blog may help..

Learning Alone

I can still smell the distinct and fragrant stench of a friend saying, “I think I’m going to resign from our relationship, because I can’t go through another break-up with you!” I imagine the torment he must of felt, or the absolute frustration because he saw me walking down the same pathway of anxious attachment over and over again and could do or say nothing to fix it. Learning to be Alone and function alone is no game. For someone who grew up with five brother and sisters and has been in relationship for most of his life, Alone was scary and frightening.

A year after a two-year relationship ended in an impasse, my therapist suggested for about the sixth time that I try a couple of years alone. This time, she firmly said, “Bo, you have tried and tried to cover your insecure feelings with insecure relationships. Maybe, Bo needs to be healthier to make relationship work.”

If I’m anything, I’m a Virgo perfectionist. So, I wanted to be on the right path and, at least, try this Alone thing, though, I was petrified, quivering down to the bone at the thought of it.

I remember the first night distinctly. I had my laptop nearby, chatting on Facebook and some other chat device, I played a word game while I waited for responses from, at least, three friends, AND I watched television all at the same time as my massage chair was digging into the knots in my spine and back, trying to relax me. That first night was tenuous, to say the least. I used any trick to keep me from the silence, just waiting there patiently to heal my soul.

The next session, my kind and loving therapist of 10 years, said gently: “Maybe it’s time to take one activity at time away and see what is there that you seem to be so afraid of.”

Eventually, I would get down to sitting alone in the chair in my big home, with not even a dog, at that point. I would ask myself some pertinent questions: Why do you feel unsafe? What are you feeling now? Can you feel the support of this chair, the floor, even the foundation of the house? Suddenly, I awoke to an inner world of silence and communication that housed the keys to all of my torment.

What awaited me in the silence was God. It was like finding the Holy Grail amidst the screaming demons and tight roping over the hottest volcanoes to get to what quietly beckoned me for years. In the silence there was peace.
In the silence there was unspoken joy. In the silence there was release, from a world full of chaotic relationships. So, I waited there and learned to draw from this silence my personal power and love—like the battery that must discharge before it is able to take in a new and stable charge.

I didn’t last two years alone, like I had intended, but I believe I got to a year and a half. I can’t say I was happy being alone. But I did learn that Alone wasn’t so bad. In fact, I learned to lean on myself, my friends, my family, and most importantly, my spiritual foundation became the Absolute in my life.

What Costume Are You Wearing? Naked and Vulnerable

I went to a yoga retreat this weekend. I didn’t realize until I was in the thick of it, that the retreat was in a clothing optional facility. Ever since I was a tiny tot, I have not liked being naked in front of people. Group showers make me feel vulnerable and simply uncomfortable. I certainly don’t feel like the high school kids who go down to South Beach with their cameras to see the European women going topless. If anyone spoke to me, I kept my chin up and dared not look down.

As I started the first class, I wore about 16 layers of clothes, convinced that I would take off as much as I felt comfortable with. After all, this was an opportunity to stretch past my own boundaries. What came up as the room began to get hotter and hotter was that I felt as if I would suffocate, if I didn’t take off more and more layers of clothes. Twenty minutes into the class, it was just Bo, my yoga matt, and a bunch of naked yogis practicing a difficult Vinyasa program in the candlelight.

Fortunately, it was dim, so I didn’t feel as if I was completely vulnerable. I hid in a corner and honestly cried for most of the practice. Being naked was this painful to my heart. I knew two people in the entire room, neither of whom was beside me. I truly had nothing to be embarrassed about. Yet, the tears flowed in spurts like a toddler who got yelled at and then simply couldn’t get over the tears.

I went inside and asked myself three inquiry questions: 1. “What wants to happen here? 2. What do I need to do to let this happen? 3. What is the gift that I bring to this moment?”

The answer to the first question was that a pain or a fear in my heart wanted to come up to be healed.
Number two was that I needed to own the feeling and keep breathing into it to understand the problem.
Three was that the gift would be liberation from shame, perhaps, if I could let out my grief.

I road the tide in until the very last Namaste, then I immediately donned my clothes, before the lights came up. Everyone else was as cavalier as they could be, including my two friends, walking around chatting with the participant. I kept telling myself that I was just shy. But, I couldn’t be dishonest in a room full of people who were naked, heart and soul. I apologized to the French Canadian next to me for disrupting his practice. He told me that there was no need to apologize for being authentic. Yes, that is what I preach, yet why was I so afraid to naked?

We don’t have to dig too deeply to realize that American society is very clothes conscious. We are the only culture in the world whose mothers have to hide breastfeeding in public, when this is the most natural process. We begin to hide ourselves from the moment we clothe our infants. Is it any wonder my soul screamed out in pain the entire time I tried this process? I ended up wearing shorts or underwear the rest of the time. I was the only person in the class to do so, and I simply didn’t care. When I became more preoccupied with my body than my practiced, I realized I could deal with my shame in the silence in meditation, which is exactly where I took it.

I soon discovered that dealing with my feelings about my own body was personal to me. I didn’t need to rush into the next nudist colony to get rid of my pain. I simply forgave myself for my judgment and went on. For me, authentic is wanting to be naked around people I trust. I’m certain this is not a terrible choice for me or for anyone else.

Feeling Naked in #Relationship

I remember going to a beach in San Francisco, once, with an ex. To get to the beach, we had to climb down a very long and steep set of precarious stairs that were made of rock and old wood, with no railing most of the way, and quite honestly, halfway down, I had wondered if it would be worth it. “It will be amazing,” my ex said with a wry smile. So, I continued climbing, holding a 15 lb. cooler in one hand, a knapsack with blankets and towels on my back, and my other hand almost white from trying to find anything to grab to steady myself.

After we got to the bottom, the beach was indeed a little piece of heaven. Very few people were visiting. The water and sand were not gentrified. And, interestingly, most of the people were naked! I turned to my partner, his smile now beaming. “I told you it would be amazing!” I knew he referred to the naked part more than the beautiful shoreline and gorgeous seascape.

“Don’t think I’m taking my swimsuit off,” I said immediately. I’m not one to be very cavalier in times like these. I supposed I have some body dysmorphic issues. In other words, I think my body looks bad, even though it may not.

However, by an hour into our visit, I found myself naked on the blanket, and, sincerely, not caring what people thought. I feel, the reason I changed my mind was because, I had realized the people there weren’t ogling each other; they had come to experience freedom. Actually, for the first time in my life, I did feel rather abandoned about my body and being naked. Though we were born naked, we have been taught that our bodies need to be clothed our entire lives—that we need to be covered. Somehow, this translates to our minds, as well.

If you are in a relationship of any kind, you know that the only way to communicate effectively is to be completely transparent, which translates to mental nakedness. If you haven’t experienced transparency with someone, make it a point to try it. You will never feel freer in your life. However, I’ll implement a caveat. If you don’t have another secure individual communicating with you, your trial will be for naught. When an insecure person enters into a conversation that feels uncomfortably transparent, he or she will avoid it completely. So, our goal in our interpersonal relationships is to find people we can undress in front of mentally, without judgment.

When you find these friends and partners, you will certainly see a complete difference in you and your ability to communicate in a way that is authentic and loving, without condemnation.

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: Monsters Inside #Ebola and #Parasites

With 50-70K thoughts going through your mind a day, have you considered how to filter which ones actually serve you? Read on....

Monsters Inside #Ebola and #Parasites

My sister watches this television program called Monsters Inside Me! When I first viewed it with her, I was aghast at how many parasites could exist in a person’s body. Some people contracted worms from eating grubs in the Sudan, while other ingested them by drinking lake water by their homes. More than anything, I realized that germs, such as Ebola, are in the minds of many right now. What about the parasitic germs of negative thoughts? Shouldn’t we be thinking about how these negative viruses are affecting every part of our lives, as well?

I want to take you on a journey of the human mind. The Huffington Post reported that everyday each human can think from 50,000 - 70,000 thoughts. Each minute we have 35-48 thoughts standing like a thick filter between our minds and our feelings. These thoughts have the capacity to motivate us or destroy our mental ability to do the easiest of tasks, such as getting up off of the couch for food.

In 2 Corinthians 10:5 (English Standard Version ESV) we read: “We (should) destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive…”) Can you imagine the task that the scriptures actually asking? When you consider an example such as the thoughts of a teenage boy dreaming about sex, the task is monumental. However, the question we need to respond to is: Is it possible to control the massive amount of thoughts in our brain?

As someone who has actually tried, I can tell you that it is a 24 hour a day process with no relenting. The human mind is unwieldy and is subject to every kind of trigger, from smell to taste to the lovely body walking by us or flashing on the screening of a television. Who can resist every temptation? I doubt anyone!

However, another choice exists. Don’t resist at all. Instead, rise above the thoughts of the human mind until you need its advice and input. For instance, in meditation we learn to become an observer of our thoughts. During meditation, we can become relaxed only because we are not tempted to walk down paths divergent to peace, by watching our thoughts instead of reacting to them. The practice is important, if you ever want to be free of the disease of negative thoughts.

When you sit above your thoughts, even when you are not meditating, you learn that the human mind is more like the computer flowing with a myriad of impulses with every keystroke, learning to react better with each usage. We can set parameters for ourselves that say specific information, like ask an alarm in our mind to ring when a certain set of data moves through. For instance, if you are hungry and need food, the bell rings. If you are in pain, the bell rings. If you are fatigued and need rest, the bell, again, rings. But, when all the other thoughts deluge your mind, you simply listen with one ear and don’t pay attention with all of your thoughts. The practice of ignoring negativity is much more like the parent who listens to a toddler chatting away about every tiny thing, but filters the important information out. If a parent didn’t do this, he or she would get nothing done in a day, because children want your entire attention all the time. The human mind never stops acting like this toddler. So, to get anything done in our lives, to move past our old thoughts into a prosperous and effective day, we have to learn to filter out what doesn’t serve us.

In other words, you have to get to the place where you realize that you are a spirit living in a human body with a human mind, subject to bodily triggers. When your humanity is working for you, you listen; when it is working against you with negative thoughts or cravings that would take you on a path away from your task, you don’t listen.

This kind of mental ability takes an astute person with the ability to truly sit with his/her mind with no judgment and learn to assimilate the power of the Divine Consciousness that would help to control and activate only the positive thoughts.

Bo Sebastian's Finding Authentic You!: #Prayer or Coercion

If you're honest with yourself: When you pray, are you trying to coerce God to give you a Grown-Up Christmas list? Read on...

#Prayer or Coercion

Yesterday, I came upon a paragraph in a book that set my entire mind into a spin. I took it personally, because, I believe I’m a perfectionist at heart. I want to do everything correctly, even pray. The paragraph from Ernest Holmes read: “The moment we think we have to pray to compel something, that same moment we are exercising the willpower which is now up against a proposition it cannot possibly meet. Prayer is not mental coercion; it is not willpower, and it is not concentration. We shall never arrive at a correct method of spiritual treatment nearly by learning how to concentrate for any length of time on a particular object. That is not what we are striving to arrive at.”

Suddenly, I looked back at my many hours of meditation and prayerful thought recently and wondered if what I really wanted to do was convince God to give me something out of selfishness. I had to take a step back for a moment, because the thought of being selfish in prayer took the breath out of me. As you know, your breath (the prana) is your life.

That evening, I attended a great class that focused mostly on prayer treatment. I brought up my question. What I began to understand about prayer was not new, but certainly clarified in my subconscious exactly how to pray without feeling like I’m taking something that isn’t mine.

You see, we can’t pray for something that we already have. In spirit, I am already whole, complete, prosperous and completely loved. If I am the arm of God in this earth reaching out from Spirit as a creative conduit of God, then I already have the attributes of God at my access—completely. What I don’t have is all of this matter in consciousness as an effect in my life. This is why we pray or treat for the effect—Not to change God, but to change our minds to be one with God!

Only once in the Christian bible do we hear Jesus asking God for something. This one time is in the Garden of Gethsemane. Every other time Jesus prays for a miracle, he simply sees his oneness with God and produces wine, bread, fish, and weightlessness as he walks on water. He had no grown-up Christmas list for God—just a complete knowledge of who He was in God’s Creation. This alone created mastery in prayer. We need to understand it to be successful in our own prayer life.

If we go to Spirit with a set of grievances and a Christmas list of items we want, Spirit doesn’t compute these specifics. We came to the this earth fully fortified to create (as we are made in the image of Creator God, just like the Master Jesus) and manifest that which we need to survive and have a purpose, which all of heaven is willing to help us with.

However, when you say to spirit, I want a tall, rich, muscular guy with blonde hair and blue eyes, Spirit doesn’t hear any of that. Spirit hears things like, “Attract to my life the best spiritual partner with a kind and compassionate heart, as you know better than I what I need in my life. My heart is open to this right and perfect person, as I know my prayer goes forth with perfect grace, as I plant the seed into the subjective mind knowing it will not come back to me void.”

This kind of prayer can be answered, because the seed from which you pray has a life of its own, like planting a tomato seed. You can’t expect to get a carrot when you plant a tomato. So, when you plant a seed, you really have only an idea and an objective behind a natural law that already exists. You have no way of forcing or coercing that seed to grow. You can nurture it. You can water it. You can keep it safe from pestilence. But you cannot make it go from seed to bearing fruit in two days. It’s not possible. You would have to go against the Law of Nature to do that.

Many of our prayers are trying to do exactly what I just described. What we must do with prayer is find the common denominator with Spiritual power and our desire. To do that, we must create a way for us to have life more abundantly, without depriving anyone else of something that is rightfully theirs. We must create a template of perfect love to nurture, knowing that only Spirit knows what to do, how do it and does it by means of our words and actions.

Raymond Charles Barker says his prayer of prosperity like this: “Spirit gives me the ability to do what I want to do, when I want to do it, with whom I want to do it, in the way I want to do it.”

Notice that nowhere in this prayer does Mr. Barker talk about money. He simply speaks to the law of prosperity in his life, which is brilliant. God doesn’t know money. God knows abundance and perfect love for you. This kind of prayer will be answered, you can be assured of it.
