Carrying Around the Dead! #livingintheNOW #lifelessons #spiritualrecovery

Can you imagine that if every time someone important to you passed away, you had to carry around the corpse? Often, with the death of a relationship, a job, or a friendship, we tend to do the same thing—psychologically, which weighs us down much the same as it would, if we carried around a real body. The dead weight is too much of a burden for anyone to maneuver, as our lives are full enough with the present moment and future commitments.

I have used a hypnosis technique for many people who tend to hold on to things for far too long. The idea is that you imagine going through your life, walking from the beginning of a tunnel to the light at the end of the tunnel, collecting mementos in a basket from people, friends, lovers, teachers, family, and jobs. You place everything in the basket that you think shaped and molded you into that very special person you are.

At the end of the tunnel, you find that your basket is full of so many “things” that it is much too heavy to carry. I ask you to imagine that there is an angel or spirit at the end of the tunnel waiting for you. She asks you to cross a large gap into a heavenly place. But you can’t jump to that heaven with the heavy basket. You must make a choice to either experience the joy and peace of heaven or hold on to the things in the basket.

For most, the choice is easy. Let go of the old to experience all that Spirit has for you in the future. But, many people can’t decide if they will disappear if they let go of their baggage. They believe that who they are is dependant upon all of the mementos in the basket.

The truth is, though, you are not your past or anything from your past. You may have been shaped by the past, but it is time to let go of the positive and the negative things that keep you from jumping into a new and spiritual place of bliss. Your fears, your trust, and your future depend upon the faith of letting go. You can’t fill a glass that is already full.
When you let go of the basket, you realize that everything you are, will continue to be, even without all of the heavy weight. In fact, you are able to be more of you, as you let go and let Spirit fill you with power, prosperity, and the truth of the NOW.
