Tears of Joy and Sadness: Part II #tearsofgrey #sadness #expressinggrief #holygrail

I found a beautiful sterling silver locket in a mud puddle. The sun pierced the murky waters and awakened my mind to the beauty laying there, unattended. When I took it home, I clean it and polished it to find that it had a message tucked inside. The words were simple, but profound: Look Deeper!

As I sat with the message from the locket, I realized that most of my joy, my sadness, and my boredom in life had come from living on the surface. My fear is that if I look too deeply into anything, I’ll find ghouls and monsters from the past that will betray my perceived happiness and peace in the present. However, as I reached down into my heart, I found something new today. I discovered that just beyond my profound fear of lack, bad health, and loneliness was the key to happiness.

Searching for your personal truth is much like the search for the Holy Grail in the movies. It is wrought with monsters and seemingly impossible tasks to reach the goal. However, even in the movies, most of the peril to finding the Holy Grail is in the mind of the seeker. Once you decide to conquer the demons and pursue the Grail, you realize that the monsters are specters and have no substance at all.

I believe the same is true with our own sadness and even our joy. It will never be complete and understood until we stand at the precipice of our heart and call out to the future: I am not afraid! I believe all of this life has a purpose, including whatever challenge I’m dealing with today! I choose this moment! I choose the NOW to learn and enjoy and grieve and to experience all of my humanity.

So, I learned that the partition between joy and happiness and my heart is simply fear. When I move toward my challenge unabashed, life explodes with new purpose. But most importantly, I understand that I am a co-creator with God. When I release from the idea that I am a tool for the universe, I can suddenly become a conduit instead—a willing participant in the purposeful unfolding of the universe.
