Still Learning at 50 #aging #gettingolder

I have heard the saying, “when you quit learning, you die!” I had always wondered what it meant, until recently. Three weeks ago, I signed up for an all-weekend acting workshop. This will be the first workshop I’ve done in many years. I have to take CEUs every year to keep up my hypnotherapy license. I take spiritual classes to keep my head in the game. But, I hadn’t taken any opportunities to learn something new.

As I prepared for the class today, I felt an old feeling of excitement, like getting ready for college when I was 18. This morning there was a spring in my step that hadn’t been there in a while. I know that I’m opening my heart, mind, and body to a new experience today that will change my life.

I had lunch with a minister friend, yesterday. He told me a story of a man who had decided at 30, after being in a horrific accident, that he would spend the rest of his life living out of the normal paradigm, seeking to do work that would change the world for the better. He wanted to live an unconventional life. One of his goals was to travel to every country in the world. In ten years he accomplished his first goal. He blogged about it every day and ended up having a million followers. When he returned he began doing seminars and writing books that would change many lives. His entire platform was unconventional, but his intention was spot on: to live life being led by Spirit.

I have made that same dedication in my life about a year ago. I have never experience more good in my life. However, I have also not been attached to so little in my life, as well.
Changing your mind about your next experience has much to do with letting go of the fear that your belongings are your life. I released my social life, my business, and my personal intention to wait in the silence and let Spirit teach me many more lessons than I had ever learned before. I was scared, impatient, and needed to have worth immediately, when I began.

Now, I realize that every moment I experience something new and take with me into the now all that I know, all that I want to be, and all that I can contribute the world that I make a difference. You, too, can live life on the edge and experience anything you may want and desire in this life. But, you must be ready let go of your old story for a fabulous new one!
