Fortified with Fear #anxiety #fear #spiritualadvice

I went to an acting seminar yesterday with twenty-five very young men and women. I was thirty years older than most of these young people who had nearly perfect physiques and faces. Yet, some of them let fear completely cripple their performances. One man was so caught up in his fear, even his beauty waned as he averted his eyes to the floor and couldn’t even face the camera without diminishing his countenance. I was amazed at how fear paralyzed so many people in the room—in the world.

Age has certainly forced me out of fear by consistently challenging me to the same battles day after day. Suddenly, after long days and nights of agonizing over the same problem, I realize that my heart and mind get completely exhausted from the fear to the point of actually letting go. I have realized that the worst that could happen is failure. As most people are very forgiving when it comes to not being your best, I recognize that I will always diminish myself if I compare my talents, body, and beauty to others. But failure is building block toward anyone’s success. It’s not only happens on the road to success, dealing with it appropriately is integral to growing and becoming stronger.

Before I went into the room to audition for my next screen test, I muttered a prayer, kind of half-heartedly. “I know that God is all in all, from the tiniest particle to the ever-expanding Universe. I am one of with this power; therefore, I have within me the creative urge to manifest all of my artistic talents in wonderful ways. I’m thankful for the gifts I have and know that love, compassion, and art move through me easily as I open my heart to being a conduit of spiritual power. I also know that failure and the fear of failure are a part of growing stronger. So, I let this fear rise to the surface to be healed. I release my treatment to the law and so it is.”

I, now, understand that facing my fears has made me a stronger, more viable person, actor, and even friend. Without knowing my fears and recognizing them, I could never walk through life with compassion.
