Vandalism: What’s Yours Is Mine! #vandalism #whatstrending #shiftinconsciousness #socialconsciousness

Every time I turn on the news I see stories of mobs looting and stealing. When someone feels as if his/her tribe is being targeted, and nothing is happening to make effective change in society; innocent bystanders in the wake of that anger, lose their belongings. Fires erupt. Windows break. Police cars get set on fire. Suddenly, the downtrodden feel as if they have the right to take what isn’t theirs. Is this happening because one person’s pain affects the whole?

In a cursory look at Google, I couldn’t find the exact amount of riots and looting over perceived misjudgments in the African American Community against police brutality. But, what I know is that smart Americans of all races don’t get anything done by being thugs. We learned these lessons a long time ago with bullies in grade school. Yes, thugs can strong-arm you into doing something, but nothing is truly changed. Have we forgotten that 53 people were killed after the court hearing about Rodney King in 1993? So, what do we have to learn from all of the recent rioting?

Of course, the obvious is that we need to have more policemen vetted for prejudice and given the proper tools to apprehend violent people, not innocent bystanders. But, more importantly, what we see in front of us is an endemic crisis of anger in the poorer African American Community that reeks of perceived injustice and not being given the same rights as Caucasian Americans. Is this really true or are thugs simply using these judgments to express anger and take what isn’t theirs? I’m not hear to judge as much as I’m here to assess the problem and see if I can come up with a positive spiritual answer.

In the science of religion, we have a term called Social Consciousness, which simply means the sum of the entire consciousness gathered together. This social consciousness creates energy, negative or positive. What we have to realize is that when we create negative social consciousness, this energy destroys, instead of undergirds with positivity and compassion. I know the bullies in high school didn’t think of this. And, I’m sure, the thugs on the street of Baltimore didn’t think of that either. So, how do positive, spiritual people, change the social consciousness of the whole?

By positive prayer and thoughts! It’s a very simple fix, but not too many people think about it. We worry. We bite our nails. We wonder if we’re next. But, we simply don’t pray and give blessings to the world and all those affected by the problems in times of crisis. If everyone who was spiritual gave five minutes to thinking positive thoughts during times of social duress, I wonder what our positive energy would do to shift the consciousness of the whole? I’d imagine that mountains would be moved. Just one shift in consciousness is all that’s required of you, today, and everyday. Let’s use our spiritual enlightenment to benefit all of society and the world, simply by thinking compassionate, positive thoughts.
