I Want My (Young) Body Back #aging #Believing #DivineMind #ScienceofMind #SpiritualLiving

I have seen myself aging in the mirror of my parents, especially my father. Since, his death, though, my mother is my only parental reflection, these days. Yesterday, her blood pressure was off of the charts, but only in the evenings. So, she asked if she could get an emergency appointment at her doctor. Of course, I took her there. We waited in the office for two hours before she was seen. During that time, she began to deliberate what could possibly be wrong. Of course, all roads led to death and dying.

She kept asking me all of the things that might be driving her blood pressure up at night—eating popcorn, eating cheese, eating bologna, exercising in the morning, taking a pill at this time or that time! Finally, I just said, “Mom, I’m not going to speculate as to why this is happening to you. I simply don’t know why our bodies are breaking down more and daily!”

Then, I heard myself. “Our” bodies, I said. Not, “her” body, but mine too. I could hear the frustration in my own voice. I had woken up with pain all over my body, from head to toe. It was as if someone were holding a remote control and was tapping a picture of my body. Each tap sent an electric shock to my toes, my neck, my back, my head… you name it.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am 90% diligent in doing the right actions to create a healthy mind and body: yoga, gluten-free diet, meditation, breathing exercises, etcetera ad infinitum. When do the malfunctions stop? I am trying to do the right things!
Well, o
ne thing I have noticed is that I have been complaining a lot about my pains and aches. I know that I should be confessing that my body is whole and that I know why it is whole! God does not make a perfectly beautiful universe and leave me to wilt away. Or is this just part of the dying process for all humans? We get older, our bodies diminish in health, and eventually die? I don’t like that negative thought at all. I thought I was going to be completely healthy until the day I decided to let go of my spirit and float away into the heavens.

Something inside of me, a seed of Truth, perhaps, sits there waiting to be planted in the Universal Mind about my own health and aging body. This seed is simply “Wholeness!” I must believe it completely, AS ANY PRAYER, even when I see signs of problems arising.

You see, this is the exact same issue with prayer and treatment I talk about all the time. We pray, plant the seeds of truth, and then do not back up our truth with affirmations and positive thinking. I know, without a doubt, that I must change my own thinking about this, or I will continue to have these experiences with my body.

However, I also know another truth. My health and my body will probably change a great deal as I get older. But, instead of complaining about it, I could simply be observant and watch for signs that could lead me to taking care of my body in a different way.

Here is just an example of what you must do and say to yourself if you want to keep knowing WHOLENESS, instead of acquiescing to negative thoughts about aging and death:

For instance, I notice that when I sleep in my bed, on my side, I wake up with lots of arthritic pain. When I sleep partially reclined on the sofa, without turning from side to side, I wake up with lots less pain—sometimes even pain free. So, instead of moaning about my pain the night I slept on my side, I should simply listen to the signs that my body needs to sleep on the recliner. That’s not such a big thing. Maybe moving around at night twists my spine and causes impingements.

This is a simple message of staying aware of your aging body, instead of falling prey to the idea that, though your body is aging and ultimately moving toward death, that you must go through all of the traumas of this aging body and experience the pains, as well. I am simply NOT going to believe that for myself. I am going to keep a positive attitude and take care of the aging process with diligence.

As for my mother, her blood pressure went up because of something so miniscule, we both had to laugh. The doctor had told her to take three medications at dinnertime, supposing that my mother ate dinner at 7 p.m. But, what elderly person do you know that eats that late? She eats dinner at 3:30 or 4. So, she was taking her evening medications too early. It was that simple.
