The Question No One Wants to Answer? #overcominganxiety #loveismydecision #spiritualadvice #psychology

Only one question exists that can change your happy, enriched heart to a clumsy, anxious one: “Why am I not good enough… to find a loving relationship, to find a satisfying job, to get rich, to have nice friends, to live in a beautiful home?” You name the outcome you don’t have. The question will always be the same.

I have asked myself this question thousands of times. When someone breaks up with me, when I don’t get the part, when I don’t make enough money to support my life, when a friend goes awry, or when family matters blow up in my face, the question is always the same. Why am I not Joe down the street who seems to have everything: the beautiful home, the perfect marriage, the swimming pool in the backyard, the job he loves to go to everyday, and the family that seems to be arriving with gifts every time I look out of the window? Why is he so blessed and, me… why am I not good enough, smart enough, fortunate enough to have all that he has?

I had spent most of my life chasing rainbows. I received a better degree. I wrote the novel everyone told me to write, because it would make me a million bucks. I sought out the popular friends. I hung with the pretty people. I neglected anyone in my family with problems. I basically thought that the way to happiness was to have things, be prettier, socialize with the elite, and avoid all the things that cause me anxiety.
What was the outcome? More anxiety than I could imagine.

When you enter into this kind of paradigm, you realize that life never provides enough. Despite the beautiful things surrounding you, you strive to make more, work more, and, yet, you have less time for the people who really love you. Things can’t measure happiness. We all know that in our heart of hearts, but we still keep striving toward satisfying that blessed ego.

Trust me, I have to remind myself daily that the world was created and is supported by Love and Source. I am one in and as that Source. I already have within me everything I need for happiness. In fact, no one, no thing, no job can fulfill that part of my heart that seems empty, because that part is not empty at all. My ego only perceives that it’s empty, which makes me anxious to fill it. I was never empty. I have never been void of all the love I need to be content and secure.

I used to envy the monks who would sit for days with nothing but the clothes on their backs and meditate in total bliss. What am I missing, I would think? My particular thorn in the flesh was that I thought that a fulfilling relationship would satisfy my heart and release me from my pain. Well, as long as I had someone loving to tend to, dote on me, and socialize with, yes, I was content. But when relationship ultimately has its problems, then suddenly, you realize that happiness is not relationship. This is a cold, hard fact. But, I faced one relationship’s demise after another then finally I understand. No one person can add or subtract from the perfect love that is already mine and always has been mine.

I recently dealt with a break-up. Surprisingly, I didn’t cry one tear. In fact, besides some of the angry and hurtful moments, my thoughts were more eschewed toward this: What am I missing here? What can I bring to this moment to make room for love to express through me? What is the gift this moment can bring?

When I got honest with myself, I realized that anger only made me not think about my own hurt and disappointment. These feelings I had to face realistically. As I faced them and changed my hurt into micro-intentions (praying for the opposite of my painful feeling for someone in need), I realized that love never stopped.

I looked around me and noticed all of the people that Love had attracted to my life. Smiling knowingly, I realized that I am good enough, not because I have a degree or stay in shape or have any material thing. I am good enough because I am one with the power that created the universe. How can I want anything more than that?

When you understand this, no matter what your circumstance, you OWN THE ROOM!

I Have a Dream: Life Without Fear #overcominganxiety #love #spiritualadvice #psychology #martinlutherking

I say to you, today, my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in all people’s dreams. I have a dream that one day this nation, this world, will rise up and live out the true meaning of our spiritual creed: “The foundation of the world is love. Each of us is created in love. And we all share in this perfect creative force.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Sedona or in the Communism of Russia that the former slaves of fear and anxiety will be able to sit down with our adversary of fear in peace. I have a dream that our children and our children’s children will be transformed into an oasis of freedom, always securing our faith in this one perfect Love.

Even as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech, to which I have alluded to above, came at a time when none of us could imagine a world without prejudice and segregation, so, too, I bring you a dream that will conquer all of our insecurities, finally giving us the peace we all deserve for all of our tomorrows.

Yesterday, something happened to me in the face of confronting my own fear of abandonment. I realized that no one could leave me if I truly believed in my spiritual creed. If the world is formed in love, then nothing and no one can ever really leave me. The remnants of love still remain in tact all around me. Even my folded-up memories hold the power of either love or fear, when I imagine those who have gone away or have passed away.

I recalled one of the loves of my past. I suddenly realized that he was the same person as my current love, not in form, but in aspect. There is no difference in the aspect of love, just in the form in which it appears. So, my father’s is my current partner’s love, who is my past partner’s love, which are the arms of security in my future. Even if alone, I’m surround by love in everything and everyone—in the abundant soil, the expanding universes, and even in the voice of a character on television. My perception of love is what needs to transform to release from today’s binding fear. Yesterday, my shackles loosened in this revelation.

I was once a slave to fear. Now, I have realized that my credo had always liberated me into the secure arms of love. It is I who must change my beliefs. When I completely disarm the power of fear, I will live in total peace. I’m sure of this, as I am sure you will, also, be liberated.

Overcome Anxiety By Manifesting the Divine #anxiety #treatment #prayer #spiritualadvice

Yesterday, I awoke from what seemed to be a negative dream about rejection. For the first hour or two of my morning, I wrestled with feelings contrary to my belief and life. I contacted a couple of friends to pray with me—friends whom I knew would pray in a positive manner, knowing my wholeness. In times past, I may have acquiesced to the bad feelings and fell into a slump for the entire day and night. Instead, in a matter of two hours, I felt as if the negativity had lifted completely. I will share with you what I did to overcome the negative force that often besets us before we’ve even had a chance to awaken to a new and fresh day.

The day before my negative dream, I had a great audition, which garnered me a callback for three musicals. I was excited about this event in my life. What I didn’t realize was that my subconscious was also concerned and nervous about the next phase of auditions. I recognized this as I sat with the anxiety, listening to it, and inquiring of it.

Also, my boyfriend called and had made tentative plans with a friend for the evening. He included me, but his plans for me to accompany them felt hesitant. I suspected had imposed my own fears into the conversation. Nonetheless, the first half an hour of my day felt as if I had a black cloud looming over me, like impending, gray rain.

Not only did I, immediately, text two friends to begin to treat for me, I also called (not texted) mi novio to ask him about his intent for the evening. Having the opportunity to hear his voice and tell him that I had anxiety, perhaps for no good reason, gave him the opportunity to clarify his intent and encourage me with very calming and beautiful words.
Next, I said this prayer. “In this moment I know this: source is all that is around me, in me, and communicating with me in, in my dreams, in my relationships, and in my awakened state. I am one as this powerful force of enlightenment and am thankful for being a conduit of this great energy, firmly grounded in love, only love.

“I reach out of my human emotions for a moment to sit with myself and observe my life without need, fear, and any earthly desire. I see that my life is complete, because God is complete. My life has purpose because Source is purpose. I have the wisdom already to be and know all that I need to know in this moment, also, to work through anything that I sense, feel, or manifest as a result of this anxious feeling. I release my treatment to the Law. And so it is!”

I sat quietly with some soft music, allowing my words, my treatment, and the prayers of my friends to gently embrace my heart. Almost immediately, I began to feel better. I became liberated completely an hour after the prayer. I sensed a complete disconnection from the past fear, anxiety, and any attachment to the future.

The entire morning was a manifestation of the Divine. I had the opportunity to recreate, that which was an old story. I did this successfully and felt strong, afterward.

The Person Keeping You in Hell #mindgames #anxiety #dealingwithstress

When I’m having a bad day, my mind reels with garbage thoughts from my past or the possibility of my life failing in some way. In other words, my thoughts take me to and keep me in a dark place, until I wake up to the present moment. I realize in that moment that the only person keeping me in hell—is me. Then, I begin the process I’m going to describe below that reaches down into my anxiety and carries me to a safe and secure place.

Some time ago, in a meditation, I heard these words: “You are the only one controlling the thoughts that keep you from believing that you hold the keys to all possibility, prosperity, and peace. Why do you keep arguing with the truth that will set you free? You are the one that holds you captive to your old way of thinking!”

Just as in the Christian theology, Hinduism also has a trinity, which seems to explain the problem of the human mind. In the Hindi trinity Brahma is Creator God, Vishnu is the preserver of all living things, and Shiva is the destroyer. Without going into all of the technical details of the Hindu religion, their triune Godhead brought some vast understanding of the possibilities of my own mind. I realized in that moment that the only part of my mind I had been feeding, in times of anxiety, is the Shiva destroyer. In this paradigm of thinking, our minds have the capacity to create, preserve, and destroy. We must learn to preserve our good and destroy only the negative thoughts. So, this brings me to our spiritual exercise of the day.

In times of circular mental activity pushing toward the negative, the first action we must do is separate ourselves (or become an observer) of the negative thinking. You may think this is a hard chore, but here are a few ways to step out of your mind for a moment, long enough to gain some control:

All it takes is 3 Minutes to change your mind!
  1. Take a slow inhale to the count of five or six. Then, exhale with that same count, but do it with exertion, pushing down toward your belly to release every bit of the air in your body and lungs. Do this for three minutes.
  2. If you are in a place where you can close your eyes, you can move your eye balls from left to right, as if they are small erasers, clearing away all the negative thoughts.
  3. You can tap different parts of your body—your forehead, under and above your eye, above your lip, below your chin, your heart, the space between your forefinger and thumb, and then circle your eyes all the way clockwise and then counter-clockwise. Do this for three minutes. (If you would like to know more about this technique, do a Google search for EFT.)
Once you have successfully moved from inside the mind chatter to outside, as an observer, you can begin to alter the thoughts of your mind by repeating anything that you absolutely know as truth for you. Here are some examples:
  • I know that I am one with God, and God cannot reject God.
  • All living beings exist in the vast, prosperous land of Spirit. I am rich in God’s glory.
  • If God can take care of the smallest bird, Spirit also is taking care of me now.
  • All things work together for the Good in this World. I know this because… (bring to mind something wonderful that happened to you as a result of a bad situation).
Ridding yourself of negative thought takes practice. When you are not moving toward a negative spiral, practice all of the above and memorize some powerful affirmations, so that you will be ready with the artillery that you need in times of the great fight of the mind.
Remember, the destroyer always exists within your brain. But, also, the creator and the preserver together will overpower the part of the mind that seeks to destroy something other than the past. Affirmations help you out of hellish thoughts and into the calming thoughts of truth, which always exists.
