Expanding Your Vision of Life Itself! #spiritualadvice #expandyourvision #CourseinMiracles #tibetanbuddhism

When we are children, our world is vast and magnificent. Everything we see is new and interesting. As we grow older, our brains start to sort out most of this grand world, so that we can focus our attention on the things that interest us most. As a result, we begin the process of missing a great deal of life. As another result, we stop looking past our narrow realities and, often, just consider those aspects of our lives from the perspective of the past, not the NOW.

For instance, every day you wake up and drink a cup of coffee. You grab your favorite mug, pour the steaming coffee, probably without much regard to what you are doing. However, when you take that first sip, often, you experience that AHA moment of “this tastes better than I remember.” But, most days, we are on the run, and our expectation of that taste and the adrenaline rush from the caffeine is more of a memory of the taste and the EFFECT, than the ACTUAL EXPERIENCE.

The Spiritual Concept is that—to live in the NOW—we must escape all of our old concepts of everything we saw and did… every moment… of every day to truly experience life as it actually IS.

To live perfectly in the present, we must look at the world anew—with the eyes of a child—consistently and constantly. However, this kind of thinking takes great practice. Buddhist monks spend hours in contemplative meditation hoping to attain just moments of the Present Now, which is always described in memoirs as BLISS.

In my modern day life, I have found difficulty in trying to capture this concept all day, every day. So, I simplify this concept and, perhaps, even modify it, so that ACTUALIZING THE NOW, because a daily practice. For example, when I wake up in the morning, my mind tends to be clearer. So, as I walk my dog, I tell myself that the world and the day is brand new. I look at vastness of the sky and remind myself of the expanse of the Universe. With purpose and intention, I observe all that is around me with special care. I notice the shape of a particular cloud. I ask myself questions about the sky. For example, is the color of one cloud the same as the next. The questions don’t have to be profound. You must, however, begin to awaken your mind to more possibilities. It’s that simple, for now.

This week, try taking five minutes of each morning and take a short walk in a different direction, noticing everything around you, from the smallest bug to the ever-expanding universe. Wear different shoes. Make your steps slower or faster. Do just about anything to begin your day with a new and adventurous attitude. If you can do this for JUST five minutes each day for a week, you will see a vast change in your attitude and an expanded view of life! I’ll talk more about this all week. Please join me as we look at Creating A New and more Adventurous Life Together.
