Between ‘No Longer’ and ‘Not Yet’ #creatingadream #pain #anxiety #creatingdreams #spiritualadvice

How long is the wait between no longer and not yet? Nancy Levin writes: “Are you in the (space) in-between that place where you’ve stopped doing something to make room for something else, even if you don’t quite know what that something else is just yet... That place isn’t just something to get through; it’s something to be honored and treasured.”

I can describe this space with a juxtaposition of “hurry up” and “nothing.” Sometimes, all I have is time to create and recreate that which is on the horizon. For instance, I’m in rehearsal for a Broadway show that isn’t quite ready to debut, but “will be” wonderful and succeful, I’m sure. My new book, “Your New Story, Your New Life” is about to be launched. Auditioning has waned since it is summer in Florida, and very little work happens in this heat. So, most days, I spend on my computer teaching myself Spanish with my best friend, Rosetta Stone, and rehearsing or editing the rest of the day. I’m waiting, basically, for my life.

Sometimes, the wait gets boring. Other times, I’m outright depressed, because I’m so used to so many things happening at once. But, this is the time that is so spiritually precious and important. I go back to my metaphor about growing a dream, like planting a seed in the rich soil. This waiting time, metaphorically, is when the plant is so tender that it takes your precious care to make sure it is guarded from storms and wild animals. The plant (or dream) is at a time that it is so small, it may be mistaken as a weed or trampled by someone, unawares. So, at this time, we must keep the high watch. Between the time of No Longer and Not Yet is a time of prayer, contemplation, and bringing your best emotional equivalents to your prayers.

If you don’t remember, a mental equivalent is when you think of something in your life that you have experienced that is mentally equivalent to what you want to achieve. You should let this feeling accompany your prayer. This emotional energy increases the energy creating your dream in the subjective mind. Your passion is actually more important than your prayer. Ernest Holmes writes about this in the Science of Mind:

“The Law is Infinite and Perfect; but in order to make a demonstration we must first have a mental equivalent of the thing we DESIRE. Consequently, the range of our possibilities at the present time does not extend far beyond the range of our present concepts. As we bring ourselves to a greater vision, we can then induce a still greater concept and thereby demonstrate more in our experience. In this way there is a continuous growth and unfoldment taking place.”

So, if you find yourself between the no longer and the not yet, stick with your basic understanding of prayer treatment. Know your truth and confess it often with affirmations, as your desire is not to change God or the rate at which your dream grows. Your need is to change your own mind. Your dream will grow as a plant grows, in the timing of God, who grows the plant.
