Calm in a Fast World #findingpeace #alleviatingstress #anxiety #SpiritualLiving

Only one pathway exists toward peace. Complete trust in Universal Law and the Initial Power and Source offers peace every moment of every day. If you believe this Law works, then you must also believe Its power is divine and has reason and truth that will ultimately take care of you and the world. So, with this secure thought, which you deliberate and repeat often, comes a sense of calm that helps you face life in a different way, in a way that seems to open doors, provides peace like a crystal in the chaos of life, and is always allowing you to see the positive in every negative event.

As a spiritual being you must always be seeking the truth, the underlying reason. When you discover spiritual facts or truth is revealed to you from any source, you must hold on to these truths like they are the most expensive jewels on earth. Protect your good and let know one rob you of the one thing that will get you through any storm: PEACE.

So, to this end, start every day with meditation. Yes, I’m going to say it again, because most of you have good intentions, but you are not finding time to do this. Even for five minutes, before the day begins, you must commit to meditation, to tell your body, your brain, and commit to intentions that are greater than the mundane life you sometimes lead. In other words, you should say an intention with our meditation that may include words such as:
“I see my life today filled with meaning and my heart open to receiving all abundance and love and joy!”
Just one statement that you can repeat over and over again during your day can actually change the course of your life. Without this intention, you may have retaliated when someone came to you with anger. You may have not stopped to help someone, and as a result, not met a person who opened many doors to change your future.

Within the mind of Universal Law is also perfect love and joy, waiting for you to STOP and FEEL it; experience it with every nerve and cell of your body. If you do this, I guarantee your life will change for the better. You will experience calm when the world around you appears fearful and chaotic. This is the truth. Depend on it with your life!

Afformations? Something New! #afformations #spiritualadvice #DivineMind #ScienceofMind #SpiritualLiving

If you follow the belief of New Thought, you most definitely have heard of Affirmations. Affirmations are positive quotes that you repeat to confirm your belief and bolster your creative process in times of stress or disbelief. Of course, affirmations with a true, positive emotion behind them can counteract all negative thinking. But what about afformations? What are they? What is there purpose?

Afformations are not statements, but questions that you ask yourself about positive states of being that you have either already experienced or state of being you would like to believe about yourself. Some examples of questions would be:
  • Why have I never gone a day in my life hungry?
  • Why am I made of the same energy as the Universe?
  • Why am I always in the right place at the right time?
  • Why was I born deserving abundance?
What a question does to your brain is something completely different than a statement. Questions activate the upper left brain’s critical analysis function. That part of your brain then looks for the reasons you do have (like a mental database). Using positive questions, instead of statements, directs your mind to ONLY look for what you already have and want more of.

“When you ask your critical mind to assume you have something and you’re just curious about the reasons why, you automatically search an optimistic database in your memory or start a database. If you focus on what you don’t have and how to get more of what you don’t want, your mind searches through a lack database,” says Susan Fox, in explaining the theories of Noah St. John, the founder of this new system of belief.

So, you can take an issue in your life, such as forgiveness, and make an afformation about it:
“Why do I forgive myself and my ex for the hurt we have caused each other in the recent past?” or “Why do I choose to remember the good things in my relationship, instead of the bad?”
Your mind now begins to search a positive database for the answers to these questions, instead of mulling over the old reasons why you dislike the old situation. This is a new template to think about, so give it some time to settle in and for your mind to gently answer the question as your meditate. When your mind gently begins to answer the questions you pose, you must begin to do what it asks of you.

If you ask the question: “Why am I such a positive person about life situations?” And your subconscious responds in kind: “You are a positive person because you begin each day anew and believe that the best is always there for you.” As you believe that your best is always there, your best automatically comes to you. So, you go about your day with the feeling and emotion of the best greeting you with open arms.

Afformations are just an alternate way of confirming your good by creating questions—instead of statements—based on your informed mind about the Truth of the Law.

Cue Words #affirmations #self-hypnosis #EMDR

If you have ever watched women’s gymnastics, either at the collegiate or Olympic level, you may have noticed that the women constantly talk to themselves during their routines, especially on balance beam. You may have thought they looked a little crazy. But, you, also, may have noticed that the girls who are using these Cue Words are the ones who are able to concentrate the most.

In my life, I have used affirmations to help change my mind about a certain situation or fear. So, if I feel worry about having enough money to pay my bills, I might say, as an affirmation: All the wealth of heaven is mine, because I am a child of God! But sometimes, remembering a long affirmation takes too much time if what you’re trying to do is vanquish an old thought right as you are doing an action, like an audition or a beam routine. So, one single word that holds the most power may be an option for you that will work as a self-hypnotic trigger.

One word that I believe is a great cue word for me is NEUTRAL. I use this cue word when I want to stop the mental garbage in my mind that seems to collect about a particular instance that happened—maybe, I said something that I want to retract or someone said something to me that I don’t understand or can’t digest. Sometimes it’s right before a big proposal at work or just an angry moment. I simply say the word NEUTRAL, and everything goes quiet in my brain. If the chatter begins again, I speak the word again.

Eventually, what happens is that the neural pathways of the brain begin to memorize the neutral response. So, when you are in a very terrifying situation like a near car wreck, you can shout the word in a moment’s notice and elicit the same calm response from the body. This is very basic self-hypnosis, but works like a charm! Give it a try.

Those Who Belong Together #relationshipadvice

A frustrated man asked this question last week, “Do I have to stay in a bad relationship, if it’s not working? When am I going to find a relationship that really and truly is right for me? Or is that person an enigma?”

The teacher said, “Nope, Nope, and Nope! Relationships are like people getting on and off a bus. The chances are that varied. It’s up to you to choose one that’s right!” She folded the papers in front of her and closed the book she read from to share her truth. “I was married to a man for 23 years who I had two children with. I thought we’d be together until we died. However, I kept growing spiritually, and he simply stopped. Life got harder to stay together, so we parted friends. We will always have the children, and I will always love him to some degree. But, was I meant to stay with him? No.”

Then she shared an affirmation that I have been using for about a week. Affirmative prayer is a way to dissolve old beliefs by saying a truth every time your mind speaks a destructive thought. The affirmation goes like this: “Divine love draws together and holds together those who belong together, so that the glory of God may be made manifest!”
In an effort to appease my own insecurities about relationship and rejection, I wrote my own affirmation that specifically helps me deal with the anxious attachment problem of abandonment. Mine targets insecurity: “Every seeming rejection asks God the question: Who am I? The answer is I am a part of God, as is everyone else in the world. God is in all and through all. So, how can God reject God? I can’t be rejected, because God cannot reject itself. Spiritual law cannot undo spiritual law.”

You see, writing truth and speaking aloud to yourself is a perfect and direct way to undo negative thoughts. Each negative thought, which usually results in negative words and actions, puts out into the universe the exact opposite of what you want.

The law of attraction and the law of “ask and you shall receive” work no matter if you are using negative thought or positive affirmations. So, make your words and thoughts count by positively reinforcing what you want to believe, not what you see as the effect in your life now. What you see in front of you is not only any illusion, it is about to change every moment, every second of every day. So, don’t be attached to it!

Then, release the affirmation to God, who grows every tree from a seed, who takes care of the part of creation we don’t understand. We simply act from the laws of spirit and believe with all our hearts that we have a God in heaven who cannot go against the law that It created. Therefore, spiritual law must work. There are no arguments here.

The Art of Positive Thinking

As far back as 1915, authors like Eleanor H. Porter were trying to instill a positive outlook into children through good literature. Her character Pollyanna in the book by the same title has actually become a popular term in the English language for someone with an optimistic outlook. Can you imagine writing something so profound, that one of your characters actually becomes a part of a language?
I share about the Pollyanna Theory because I am an avid writer about sending a positive message and having a hopeful spin to share. I think that’s why I watch ABC’s World News Tonight. The newscast seems to highlight the best in the news, as well as the high points in the tragedies. But even then, the broadcast always looks for the hero or heroine. You have to admire news and reporters who are consistent users of the Pollyanna Theory. I would much rather be uplifted, than burdened by the constant barrage of negativity in the news.

This leads me to my point today. How do we wake up every day with a positive outlook and an uplifted spirit to share? This can be a difficult challenge for most people, as the first thing we often face is chores, deadlines, and negativity. But let’s use the Pollyanna theory to make change in our outlook today.

I had an interesting challenge a couple days ago. I had a friend—let’s call her Sharon—who had a hard day. She came to me with some disparaging news and a heartfelt complaint about how I had been dealing with a certain aspect of our friendship. As always, the first thing that flares up is my Ego. We were both in defensive mode. But, I decided to sit back and listen and observe. A minister friend’s theory passed through my mind: “When a person feels comfortable enough to share a burdensome issue with you, it is a compliment, not a protest.”

I kept that in mind as I listened with more compassion. I suggested, when she was finished, that we say a prayer and ask God to guide us and help us figure out the next step in our relationship. As we prayed, I felt the walls and barriers come crashing down. We both shared the same spiritual outlook.

How wonderful it was to give our burden to God in that moment. We both ended up sharing what we were truly afraid of—abandonment—and had a good cry and a heartfelt, healing embrace. This happened in the morning before I had some life coaching clients. I had a choice: would I carry the problem and solution with me, or would I let it go and let spirit lift me up with this issue to find a great message for my clients? I chose the second choice. It became apparent, when a sense of well-being rushed over my body, that God, angels, and spirits were guiding my course of action with grace and poise. If I could let go as I was doing in that moment—every day—no matter what the challenge—I could always feel hopeful and filled with love to share.

I challenge you today to take something that is bothersome and causing you anxiety and find the authentic, compassionate point of view. Look from all sides to find spirit’s purpose for this challenge in your life. When you discover the issue in its distilled version, then let it go to God and to the law of spirit, which willingly will move it toward love. You have very little to do with the next step. You have more power in keeping a positive attitude about your challenge, than if you keep running over the negativity in your mind like a bad movie looping over and over.
Trust that you will know in your heart what to do next. Keep your mind and soul open to the flow of good always available from Unlimited and Loving God!
