Whether in Bad or Good Weather #badweather #whatisgood #spirituality #SOM #lawofmind #truth

Oscar Wilde said, “It is absurd to divide people into Good and Bad. People are either charming or tedious!” I would go one metaphorical step further to say, “It is absurd to judge (period)—anything—people or acts.” The bible says that God rains on everyone… the good and the perceived evil.
The reason why we are told not to judge by many ancient scriptures is simply because it is not our place to judge anything. “He who has no fault, let him cast the first stone,” Jesus said.
So, if I think about Jesus’ premise, I’d be the first to stop my judgment of others. However, losing our critical edge is a difficult process. Trying not to make judgments against people and events is more difficult than you would imagine, especially since an average adult makes 35,000 decisions in a day (Quora.com). Our brains are constantly using that critical edge to judge whether we should run that yellow light, let our child go out after dark, eat that dessert, or run instead of walk. Judging is an integral part of life as eating is. So, you cannot take away the critical processing from the brain without losing the good function and the bad. (Ah, there again… judging by good and bad. Is it impossible to stop with the comparison?)
As a hypnotherapist, when people would come to me to stop smoking, it was considerably easier than helping them stop eating too much. Why? Eating is something you have to do, every day. So, starting to eat anything often makes you want to eat more. When you stop a habit like smoking, you simply do not smoke anything, which is why I’m not in favor of the vapor substitute, unless the person is using it to titrate off of nicotine.
We must stay critical in our thinking to stay on point with our jobs and in our choices. However, when we let this criticism spill over into our thoughts about people and current events, in general, we begin to judge something that is out of our realm or spectrum of judgment. We head down a road that is difficult to maneuver without pointing those four fingers back to ourselves.
So, today, try spending one day without calling any person or event bad or good. We do not know the purpose or the eventual outcome of anything in life. We do not have an omniscient brain to know the larger truth behind anything in life. So, perhaps, we should stick to our microcosm and focus in on getting our own lives right. Point those four fingers of energy at where it will matter most and make effective change.
