Augmented and Virtual Reality: The Difference, the Use and Our Future #ARvsVR #VR #Augmented Reality #Virtual Reality

In a world where, sometimes, we cannot see the difference between reality and a created reality, we must stop and wonder how our future might look if technology continues to lean toward augmenting our reality. Will we see real change and categorically allow ourselves to use computers to think for us, do for us, and deduct for us? Eventually, will we even need our human mind?
I know with absolute certainty that if I were to do an algebraic problem that I would be tempted to use a computer to see if I was correct with my answer. Why? Because I’m absolutely certain the computer will be correct. If we know that computers have mainframes that are based on pure fact, then we also know that the result of those facts will reap more fact. The truth is: some computers are beginning to think past the logic they have been programmed with. This, of course, excites the technological world, but where does this leave humans as more computers do the work of simple minded humanity?
So, what are Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR and VR) and what exactly are the differences? According to TechTimes.com, “Augmented reality is the blending of virtual reality and real life, as developers can create images within applications that blend in with contents in the real world. With AR, users are able to interact with virtual contents in the real world, and are able to distinguish between the two.
“Virtual reality is all about the creation of a virtual world that users can interact with. This virtual world should be designed in such a way that users would find it difficult to tell the difference from what is real and what is not. Furthermore, VR is usually achieved by the wearing of a VR helmet or goggles similar to the Oculus Rift.
“Both virtual reality and augmented reality are similar in the goal of immersing the user, though both systems to this in different ways. With AR, users continue to be in touch with the real world while interacting with virtual objects around them. With VR, the user is isolated from the real world while immersed in a world that is completely fabricated. As it stands, VR might work better for video games and social networking in a virtual environment, such as Second Life, or even PlayStation Home.”
Does this VR world sound a little like dreaming or like living in a perfect world that is not the one we perceive in our daily lives? These augmented and virtual worlds are creating, perhaps, the world we have all been praying for—one that is subsumed with our own desires and lacks all of the outside negative forces.
Listening to interviews with people who have tried the technology, some were quoted as saying, “If I could have this technology all day, I would simply get up in the morning, sit on my couch, and live in the VR world the entire day.”
Who wouldn’t? You get to create your world as you go along, and computers do the work for you. This becomes a life of irresponsibility, relying on the reality of a more intelligent brain.
Isn’t this what we have been saying about Spiritual work the entire time? Spirituality comes from the dreaming part of the mind. This is where we connect with the one perfect mind. So, what technology produces now is simply an easy fix for our own spiritual growth.
I am not against any technology. I love it like a child at Christmas. But, I wonder if what is expressing as technology is simply coming from the mind of man to reproduce what is difficult to create with volition of one’s own mind. Just like I said about the Algebra equation: With the AR, I can easily see if my answer is correct.
Eventually, students and I will go directly to the computer and completely circumvent our human brains. We have already proven that the brain is not as smart as a computer or as efficient. So, what is left for the human mind and body to do in a world where computers are taking over?
