Venom and Diamonds
I know a few people who can wear diamonds and look
beautiful, act beautiful, and never blink an eye when they shove their dessert
fork in your heart in the middle of a swanky affair and turn it twice. I think
it takes some training to be so cold and venomous.
This morning I had to tell a friend that a suggested
health practitioner was not the one he wanted, because I once worked for this
person and the experience was much less than palatable.
What
I think the lesson is for me: Don't treat people badly. I don't want to spread
terrible things about anyone. But I also don't want a friend to be treated by a
person who would treat me badly without blinking an eye. That doesn't bode well
for the level of authenticity I think a medical practitioner needs to have to
treat people with heartfelt needs.
My
lesson is simple today. Treat people--all people--with the level of kindness
you would like to be treated with. And you will find that eventually that same
kindness will find its way back to you.
"What
you sow, you shall also reap!"
I
believe this scripture wholeheartedly. Practice makes perfect even when you're
practicing the art of love and compassion.
