Falling into Fall
Yesterday
I woke up to that cozy feeling of wanting to stay under my covers, because of
just enough of a cold nip in the air. As the day unfolded the colors of autumn
burst into view with the perfect weather. I found myself wanting to take a long
walk, eat right and lose that 5 pounds I’ve been carrying all summer!
We have been programmed to start something new since we began
school at 5-6 years old in September. It’s no wonder that autumn brings with it
this feelings of desire to break forward into a new task, to start a class, or
a new business.
I love fall. It’s traditionally a time of gathering and
thankfulness. For crops it is the time to reap what you have sown. So, today
think about the good you have put to task this year and what you need to gather
in spirit now.
When I was a child, I thought like a child. September was school
and the start of a new grade. As an adult, there is a new way to
think—spiritually. There is a metaphor for all that you have done in the past.
Can you create a metaphor for this autumn time in your life? What has it meant
to you? What can you begin to help jump-start in your new and better life
today?
How about thinking about quitting that habit you’ve been wanting
to stop? Or knowing for yourself a new job with more money? Or losing that
weight because it’s finally cool enough to do some extra yard work and run
laps? And I know there’s a project that’s just waiting to happen for your
family.
Get in on the fall feeling. Take a deep breath of that brisk,
wonderful airLook up into the clear, miraculous sky and look at the stars.
Imagine the many possibilities you have ahead of you today. There is nothing
you can’t do with your life. All the chains are off! You have no boundaries.
Find that something special inside of you that you have been
waiting to do, and do it! Now is the time.
