Fear, Doom and Gloom. Who’s Responsible?

Tonight, I watched world news. The headline news was that oil prices and gas prices were going down at record rates because of the fact that the US would be energy independent by the year 2030. The news also predicted that gas would conceivably go down another $.50 a gallon soon. If that were to happen, 150,000 jobs would suddenly appear, medicines and food prices would also go down immediately. This is all expected to happen within months.

So, I say to you and to all those who were sharing their news of doom and gloom before the election, who is responsible for all the fear that had been spread consistently for months before the election into the consciousness of all our fellow Americans—Republicans and Democrats?

I’m standing in the middle of the aisle here. I’m concerned that fear has been used to manipulate the population for votes. If that’s true, then who are we to depend on to give us hope for the future?

I feel angry for being told lies for so long and having pulled up my bootstraps thinking I would have to wade through some serious downturn in the economy just to get through the next year. When the true is that record spending is now happening for Christmas, and news of more jobs and gas prices lowering to produce lower prices on all our major essentials.  I’m amazed, actually. I have been thinking of building a bomb shelter in my back yard and burying canned good enough for six months.

Now, I know that every day brings on a new fear or a new threat of some impending problem in the world. But the Good News of life needs to be passed on loudly and shouted on the rooftops. Things are okay. In fact, more than okay. We are doing just fine right now compared to the rest of the world.

I remember President Obama speaking about his hopes for the future. I teared up, because I hoped with the president, prayed with him that things would go as he intended.

But much of the world was hoping that things wouldn’t go the president’s way because, if everything changed for the worst, then it would only prove an alternate point of view and allow another regime to take over.

But what are we truly fighting for here? Do we want our world and our precious US to be on track, or do we want to be right about our economic prowess?

I’m here to tell you, that we had all better be on the same page when it comes to saving the world from doom and gloom. We had better be sending prayers to the same God for help. And when that help comes, have eyes to see it clearly. We must put away our pride and help each other. This is a communal effort to have solidarity in the great United States of America.
