LETTING GO: Learning to Be Like a Child at Christmas #spiritualprincipal #divineMind #SOM #Christmas

This year was about letting go of my control of the things I have no business trying to control. This Christmas Eve and day was a prime example of the lessons learned by this hard truth. I allowed myself to observe and yet be a part of everything in my world. I watched those who tried to control without success. I saw in the stressed eyes of those who desired a perfect outcome, helplessness in the face of difficulty. And, also, too, I noticed the people who really had let go and allowed for the perfect and best to manifest in their lives, simply by being in the middle of the NOW with all of its great mystery and loving energy.
My holiday began by taking a break from my Blog, which I almost never do. Instead, I read, snuggled up with a cup of hot coffee and my beautiful puppy, Coco. I then did some yoga. I shared brunch with a dear friend who told me he had no one to have Christmas with. Initially, he rejected my offer to get together, but later he accepted. This was the absolute perfect way to begin my day. Nothing was planned. Everything felt organic and perfect.
After lunch, I decided to see if anyone needed an Uber ride at Christmas. I ended up picking up the greatest mother and daughter and bringing them to a beach brunch with family. Our conversation was lovely spontaneous and insightful.
When I got home, my sister and I did some final preparations for gag gifts, which is a family tradition in our home. We laughed and carried on like little children. From there, I said a goodnight prayer with my sweet friend, David in Dublin, before his Christmas night was over.
Soon, the immediate family began to arrive at our home. All of the food manifested aromas that would make one want to jump out of her skin and into the table, head first. After the feast was completely ready and piping hot, 10 of us, said a blessing about everything we were grateful for.
This touched the deepest place in my heart. Most especially, my sister Lori’s prayer, “I’m so thankful to God for bringing the whole family together in Florida. You have no idea how much love I feel with you here now. I feel so blessed and so joyous.” I absolutely knew what she meant, as the struggles of leaving my home base of 27 years to spend my life now with my immediate family surrounding me appeared so different, wonderful, and perfect, all at the same time. I would have never guessed I would be here in this moment.
But, the best part of the evening was relinquishing my 25-year job of being Santa to my nephew. I got to sit on the couch and completely enjoy the evening. Again, letting go played the best part of life. The family laughed, cried, and had the best time we had ever had together.
Thank you, God!

Hard to Let Go #treatment #duality #DivineMind #ScienceofMind #SpiritualLiving

I had always thought the key to creating in life was to work hard. From the time I was a young boy, I studied hard, got straight A’s, went to college, and forced my way through closed doors. I had always felt this was the best modality, as that was what I saw around me in the effective examples of those who were bosses and executives.

However, as I began to start my own creative business, I realized that creation is much different than pushing your way to the top in a nine-to-five world. In fact, much of the creative process is about doing the hard work, and then LETTING GO!

What does this mean to someone who has spent the last three years writing a novel?
Coming from someone who had done this 14 times and pushed and pushed my way into agencies and publishing companies, I realized that nothing good comes from pushing—NOTHING! The best resolve I have had over the years has come unexpectedly and by being prepared. In other words, my job as a creator is to create. So, my advice to you is this:
  • Do you job!
  • Sow your seeds!
  • When opportunity knocks, BE PREPARED!
Once you present yourself, your product, or your art, then the rest is up to someone else, usually. So, how can any form of force, albeit even mental force, be of any help? It truly cannot. In fact, this kind of mental force will only cause disappointment in the end, especially if the end result does not go in your direction, which is the case most of the time in the creative arts.
The best resolve in this situation is to always be prepared, continue to create, and LET IT GO!
I may be speaking to the choir, but almost every day I face the possibility of rejection. I go to an audition. I do the best I can. And, the rest is NOT up to me. In fact, even after I get an audition, my part of the film may end up on the editing floor. Does it matter? In the end, no. I have done the job I was hired to do. My part is over.

The best advice I have ever gotten concerning life is that: We plant the seeds; God grows the tree.

You must be firm in your resolve to stay with this premise in every situation. You cannot force life to happen in any situation, no matter how strong-willed you think you are. Your will is often what is keeping your good from flowing easily to you!

Seeing Your Perfection #PerfectYou #DivineMind #ScienceofMind #SpiritualLiving

Wouldn’t your life be wonderful if you could consistently see yourself through the eyes of someone who adores you? Wouldn’t you care for yourself more, respect your wishes more, and relate to the world in a more confident way?

Lately, I have been working on seeing my life as perfect reflection of the divine. I spend little time in my meditations sowing seeds and ideas into the Universal Mind and a greater amount of time releasing my desire to control Universal Mind.

My ego, somehow, believes that I can boost the rate of growth of my dreams by mindfully impressing my thoughts into the universe. What I have noticed as a result of this kind of control is that it is exhausting. Not only exhausting, but by trying to impose your timeline on the Universe, you tell Spirit that you have no faith in the Law. Disbelief is simply negative energy, which does not produce results.

So, ask yourself this question? Is the same power that created the incredible, magical, and abundant universe—within you? If you can meditate on this principle and believe that each of your cells already holds the capacity to be whole and prosperous, then you have created the best treatment in the world.

There is great important in treating for our good and sowing seeds into the Subjective Mind. This treatment reawakens our minds to our intent. However, the universal mind got our order the moment we spoke it—THE FIRST TIME. The seed was planted. The power of growth had begun. And in the mind of God, it is done, already. So, as part of our prayer treatment, we must release this thought, desire, and idea—COMPLETELY—to the Law.

Release means to let go—totally. Have you done this with your dreams? Are you trusting that, in due time, what you believe to BE yours already is manifesting in the universe just as a seed grows into a tree and bears fruit? If you cannot say that you believe this premise, entirely; then, you must spend more time this week focusing in on letting go and trusting in your belief in the Law.

Letting Go of an Old Dream #death #depression #divorce #lettinggo

Lately, I have written a great deal about creating new dreams. As I have been feeling a bit of grief over the death of an old dream, I thought I’d touch on this important process, today.

As most of you know, I have moved from Nashville to South Florida, changed my business, moved on from a divorce, now live around most of my immediate family, started a support group for spiritual gay men, and began to learn Spanish as a second language. This all has overwhelmed me, most days, so much so that I rarely have time for grief. But, the last week, I have found myself sleeping whenever I can and very listless, which has led me to ask Spirit and my own body what’s going on.

I have written about self-inquiry before. This is the process of asking your self about a pain, a symptom, or a specific feeling, then waiting for an answer in meditation or in the synchronicities of life. So, this is exactly what I had been doing for a week now.

A couple of times in the past week, I had a new friend ask me, point-blank: “Are you feeling depressed over lost love or something? You seem really depressed.”

I responded quickly: “No, of course not. I didn’t even cry when my last boyfriend decided to move on. I’m actually starting to feel that I’m giving up on the idea of ever finding a person to love and to marry!”

Then, it hit me. My eyes welled with tears. I realized that I had been grieving my dream of marriage and true love for almost a week, without even realizing it! I wasn’t depressed. I was simply grieving an old dream, which is a healthy process, in my estimation.
The truth, and it’s a hard one to admit, is that I have tried so many times to create relationship in my life. I have met lots of really wonderful people, but in the end, sometimes after years, I’m still alone. Maybe, the difference is from then and now is that, now, I’m not lonely about it.

I have so much to live for. But, at one point in the past year, I began to discern how much energy I have put into finding and maintaining an intimate relationship. If I had wasted this much energy in the stock market, I would be living under a bridge, right now.

A few weeks ago, I decided, I was going to just spend time doing what was in front of me, which was plenty. I would only invest in what was feeding my soul. With that thought, the death of that old dream of relationship arose without me seeing it.

So, I spent the last couple of days hulled up, alone, and pretending I was sick, so that none of my family would try to undo what I needed to go through. (Family tends to try to fix, when, sometimes, a wound just needs to bleed to purify before it heals.) This is certainly my process.

Today, I woke up feeling refreshed and with new energy. Just the awareness of why I felt so listless has helped in the process of healing. Now, when I feel an old lump in my throat rise from letting go of the past, I’ll simply take a moment to grieve. It’s that simple. Human life, sometimes, is about letting go to make room for more abundance and greater things unimaginable to our human minds.

Releasing Control, Gaining Pleasure #releasingcontrol #ego #Self #spiritualadvice

My entire life people have always pegged me for a Virgo, because they said I was very controlling. Everything in my life had its place. On the upside, I always had a list of things to do, each item on my list had a scheduled time to be completed, and I never was late. On the downside, life is too damn exciting to be this regimented. Although, in one lifetime, I have accomplished more than most people do in ten, I wonder if I’ve missed out on the subtle moments that people have when they sit calmly allowing life and the universe to contribute its gentle nudges to press us forward.

I have a particular friend who has been encouraging me to let go and simply be in times that we are together. Of course, instead of just adhering to his advice, I thought, okay, I’ll use this premise as a spiritual lesson!

However, what began as a trial lesson turned into a vast array excitement, and surprising moments of pleasure and delight. I’m finding pieces of myself I didn’t know were present, because I had locked them up with all of the unorganized and subtle thoughts in my mind. As I let my Virgo go, slowly, I notice that each individual part of me has a plethora of colors. I’m not just sitting on the cusp of Virgo or Libra, quiet or loud, and vivacious or shy. I am all of the shades of these colors, as well.

For me, I realized that as a child, in order to accomplish my goals, I set aside the submissive, shy child to step forward and lead with my stronger character—the one I taught myself to be to survive. As I’m safe now, in the arms of my higher Self, I can now let out the guy who has become willing to let others lead. I realize with this change that I get to let go of lots of responsibility, as well. This is certainly an upside for someone who carries most of the troubles of the world, his family, and his work on his shoulders.

So, here’s to letting go!

Oblivious

The dictionary defines this word as not aware or not concerned about what is happening around us. How many people do you know that are completely oblivious to life, relationship, or work ethic?
Last night I was at an ice cream joint with a friend. The line was out of the door. Four people were behind the counter. Three of them were talking and carrying on with each other. Only one was waiting on customers. Everyone in the line was thinking the same thing I was: The other three people are totally oblivious to the fact that we would all like to be waited on in the next hour. A feeling of infuriation arose in me.
Yesterday, I was on a two-lane street with a woman whose head could barely reach over the steering wheel. She drove fifteen miles an hour below the speed limit, when, of course, I had to be at an appointment on time. The woman was oblivious, or maybe just too old to care!
In situations like this, my first thought is my own ability to have empathy and compassion for those around me, sometimes to my detriment. I’m most often concerned and even rattled by the feeling of disappointing people in situations, when people are waiting on me, or I may be late for an appointment. I wonder what I would feel if I had more of a sense of oblivion in those situations. What if, instead of lack of responsibility and compassion, these people are simply doing what they need to do with no respect of what other’s think? In so doing, they are really relying on God or Spirit to direct their paths, instead allowing the weight of other’s desires to manipulate them?
When we are in situations that mirror oblivion, we are all reflecting off of each other things we need to work on in ourselves. I believe that since I have been confronted with this kind of oblivious behavior, that maybe I should consider enhancing my life with a bit more of this “letting go of other’s judgment” into my life and being a little more oblivious to the angst of what other’s feel. After all, I can’t control everyone or everything. So, I might as well acquiesce to living life without concern of other’s? (That is probably stepping a little too far over my compassion boundary.)
I’m sure, if I tried hard enough, I could find a great balance between being totally oblivious to others’ needs and being overly concerned about how everyone is affected by me. If traffic is slow moving and I’m late, could it be that God is responsible and that I should simply make a phone call to let someone know that I’m trying my best to be there on time, but a wreck has detained me? Or in a situation where twenty people are waiting to speak to me, if I just settle into the idea that each person deserves a certain amount of time to feel taken care of, I would be just fine? I can’t possibly do anymore than I’m already doing to appease all these people, so just let go and relax. Here’s to just a bit of oblivion in life!
Coming Up: I’ll be spending some time looking at prosperity—how to achieve it, why it’s not coming, and how to step forward into your dreams!
