Self-Bullying? #bullying #self-deprecation #spirituality

Many people talk about the important issue of bullying in schools. Not many are talking about the daily bullying we do to ourselves. How many times a day do you call yourself a self-deprecating name, like “stupid,” or “idiot” or say something like: “how dumb could you be”?
If someone you don’t know very well bullies you or says something horribly mean to you, somewhere inside, you may realize that this person has no idea who you are. They are simply looking on the surface.
Imagine how your own subconscious reacts to you—the person who know you the best—whenever you call yourself a name. The habit is intrinsic in this society and often comes from seeing your failures as negative instead of learning experiences.
If you are 35 or older, you probably did not have parents who believed in talking things out and supporting your artistic desires. I know my dad wanted me to become a clone of him. Forget about the kids at school who only believed that jocks should succeed. These mean children and old-time, harsh parenting skills didn’t give us much self-esteem. In fact, it did just the opposite. It gave us the words we use against ourselves now when we think we have underachieved. So, how do we begin to get over the issue of Self-bullying?
First of all, you must know who you are in relationship to the world and ultimately—Spirit. If you understand that Source is one Mind and that you are connected, created by and shaped in the image of that Powerful Mind, then you will begin to see yourself as One in power.
Co-creators, which we all are, like children in the playground of the universe are always LEARNING by making mistakes. We set out to create with great intentions. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don’t. But, ultimately, we are always learning lessons to help ourselves do better the next time.
If you were the parent to a child who made a mess of his or her first art project, would you tear up the paper and tell the child he or she will never be an artist? Hell, no! You would teach the child slowly the process of learning to paint inside the lines, not to mix all the colors together, and perhaps give the child art lessons. We don’t demean our children these days for messing up. We help them learn to be better.
So, we must go back into our own minds and listen for the voice of self-deprecation. Listen hard and decide who is the face behind those mean words to yourself. Once you discover the who, you must have an internal discussion with that voice. The discussion should go something like this:
“Here’s what I know about me. There is only one Source, and that source is God the good. I am a product of that amazing Source of Love. Therefore, I am good. Everyone is created by this same Source, so we are, in some way, unified in mind—even if we see life completely differently and through different lenses.
“I’m thankful for knowing who I am, and I choose NOW to stop using these self-deprecating words that you have used against me in the past to make me feel small. I am and will continue to say words of truth to myself, encouraging myself to be the best, because I am made of the best.”

CALLING ALL CARS! Ubering at Your Own Risk #Uber #Holidaypartydriving

If you’re planning on taking an Uber or using a car service during the holiday party time, you’ve got to read this story. Last year, this happened to me.
A friend and I were planning on going from Pembroke Pines to Miami Beach on New Years Eve for a party at a swanky, beachside home. On a normal day the drive would be 40 minutes.
Because of traffic and our intention to have a few drinks our inclination was to “Uber it” for the evening. I initiated the Uber driver from my home in Pembroke, and then picked about 15 minutes towards Miami Beach, then to our destiny. The trek began at 7 p.m.
There were some minor delays along the way. Traffic was heavy, even that early. My friend wasn’t ready when we arrived, so I waited with the patient Uber driver, who smiled congenially the entire time. Little did I know that as we continued on our journey, the Uber rates were fluctuating up and down from 3x the normal cost all the way to 15x the normal cost.
As we were trying to circumvent traffic, each of us had suggestions to avoid the long delays on I95, because it was literally stopped cold. We took the Express lane, alternate routes, and finally ended up in Miami Beach about 2 1/2 hours later.
Even though you don’t have to tip, I gave the driver $30 for his trouble. Still, he smiled and said, have a good evening. When I looked at my phone, after Uber drove away, the cost of the ride had accumulated to $348.00 after the varying costs were calculated. I thought, surely, this can’t be correct.
I sent in an inquiry to Uber. But there was no getting out of paying for the service.
My advice to you is to take a car service that will give you a quote before you ever get in the car for the entire ride when it comes to a big holiday. Uber may be the preferred service on normal driving days. But on holidays, think again!

The Intricate Past #livinginthepast #yournewstory #Spirituality #now

Remembering the old story about Lot’s wife, I imagined turning into a pillar of salt about a million times for looking at, mulling over, rewriting, and sifting over the DEVISIVE PAST. Why can’t we just let go of the past like two ducks squabbling on a peaceful lake? A second later, they float away gracefully, never looking back.
Getting over the past is an intricate problem most of us continue to battle. The problem with NOT getting over the past is that we waste so much time angry, in our depressed minds, and simply not being open to the awesomeness that COULD BE if we would just open our hearts, minds, and specifically our eyes to the present.
As a life coach, I often see how the past can stymie and stop someone cold in his or her tracks—just as that pillar of salt—unable to move forward with any strength or direction. How do we overcome what should be the simplest task: releasing and letting go?
We think of our mind often as our physical brain. This is an incorrect thought. The brain is a measurable physical organ. The mind is immeasurable.
The mind can stay encapsulated in the body, stuck in the never-ending stream of stories from the past. It has another option. The mind can climb on to a bridge above the stream of stories and simply observe. This observer mind is accessed through self-inquiry, silence, and listening to your own thoughts without judgment.
When we can become advanced enough in our own self-discovery, we learn to access the most important part of the mind that will lead us out of the past and into peace.
My own journey of recognizing how the past and my past stories have overwhelmed my life and took over my mind like a fast growing cancer is completely documented in my latest book, “Your New Story, Your New Life.”  The key to the change is in the book’s subtitle: The Metaphysical Mind.

Do I Need a New Body? #Illness #yournewstory #Spirituality #faithhealing

I woke up with flu symptoms yesterday. I got a flu shot and two weeks had passed since I was around anyone with flu symptoms. I practically wore rubber gloves, washed my hands and face repeatedly after touching anyone who was sick, and I even wore a medical facemask when I took care of my sick mother, who had the flu for a week. Yet, my body started to breakdown yesterday just after my first client. By noon, I couldn’t get out of bed.

I’m a prayer practitioner; a believer that I am a co-creator with Source. There is a physician within each of us that transcends such physical backlash from any negativity or disease.
I got on the phone to my prayer partner and asked him to pray with me. After this, I spent two hours meditating. In my quiet time, I imagined that a powerful God-light, a loving, healing presence replaced every negative affliction in my physical body and reawakened the health in me. I kept repeating to myself that I was whole, well, and in the presence of the divine.
When I awoke from my meditation, I actually had enough energy and felt well enough to facilitate my Spiritual Gay Men’s group last evening. Even for a period of 2 hours or so after the group, I felt absolutely fine, as if nothing had been wrong over the course of the day. However, when I went to sleep, I kept getting up to drink water and gargle, as my nose and throat felt congested, but not overwhelmingly. I used a Nettipot to clean out my sinuses twice last night.
This morning, I once again called my prayer partner. I told him that his prayers were working and to continue to treat for me today, as I was going to spend much time combating what most people would acquiesce to.
Louise Haye, a successful author and believer of healing, had used the power of affirmations and the belief that she was whole to combat cancer and help many over the course of her amazing life. After reading one of her books, you know that your faith must be strong enough to expect signs that your spiritual work is actually changing your life. Even Ernest Holmes says that if you don’t see results, you keep treating. I, too, wanted to see result.
I don’t spend two hours a day meditating, only to find that I have no resistance to the negativity around me.  No, indeed. I expect just the opposite. I want to be able to know—without a shadow of doubt that I am whole and well every moment of the day and night. I’ll let you know what transpires.

Christmas Eve without Jesus!

Christmas Eve without Jesus? What?
I’m putting together a Christmas Eve program. I have been shocked at the people who say, “I hope you’re not going to sing… “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” or “Mary Did You Know” or “Joy to the World or anything that is too Christian.
I’m thinking, you do realize that this holiday is by definition about Jesus’ birth. How can we NOT sing about Jesus?
What I’m hearing with this banter is that “Does Christmas have to include word Jesus?” This question would come from people who were either disenfranchised from Christianity or people who are from different cultures or faiths...(Click on the link below for the entire story)

Human Right on Election Eve

On Election Eve
 #vote #humanrights

In all of my life as a voter, I have never felt more frightened of the political possibilities that lie ahead. In general, I am not a fearful person. I tend to believe that Good will always rise up to conquer darkness. But, when the darkness appears to be some of your friends and family, I have to wonder from what magnifying glass my peers and I are looking.
When friends choose fiscal policy over human rights it simply makes me wonder what kind of world in which we live. When people choose government taking choice away from women, this sickens me. When GLBT rights and the rights of all different colors and sizes of Americans are being measured by different rulers, I’m simply outraged.
So, I should not be too surprised when I find myself alienating those I love because they choose to voice their opinions in a way that could never support my lifestyle as a gay man. When the Republican presidential candidate and the Republican ticket wants to repeal my rights as a GLBT person in the first 100 days of presidency, rights that all GLBT people have fought hard to get, this would be like taking away the right to vote for African Americans and women. I get sad inside and want to weep for the masses of people who say they love their gay best friends and relatives, their Latin friends, their wives and children, but have no idea that their vote says so much more than they understand.
I read some Facebook posts last night from my high school acquaintances. All of them had decided to vote for Trump. I was compelled to write a compelling post to share my point of view, even though they may see me as an outsider who doesn’t matter in the big picture. As I suspected, no one’s minds were changed by my one shard of light entering into the misfortune of misguided minds shaped and molded by lies heaped upon other lies.
I whisper to myself, how can you vote for a man who says he’ll make America great again, when he has not paid a cent of a billion dollars worth of taxes he owes that would help each of them and the national debt?
“Who are we to believe?” most are asking. The news eschews truth, the politicians spin truth, and we go to the website only find a myriad of different points of view about truth that no sane person can sort through without feeling deluged by doubt. So, I’m back to my own feelings and my own heart.
I remember other elections when I felt a similar feeling of apathy, perhaps not as intense, but had my doubts about the opinions of friends and family. I know that the day after the George Bush Jr. election, when everything seemed to move back toward normalcy, I began to let go of my fury and forgave those who stood in the shadows of my own truth. I spent more time harnessing myself and waiting for the inevitable ball of fire to drop.
I have never enjoyed debating or fighting. I chose to be a writer so that I could take pen to paper, or in this case, fingers to keyboard, because I know that my opinion is just one. To voice my opinion in a succinct and proper way is my right in this country. I am glad I still have that intrinsic right.
