Life Is a Tapestry #failure #synchronicity #findingpeace #spirituality #psychology

Sometimes, fate, Spirit, life—whatever you want to call it—leads us to the most interesting people. I find that when I’m most tempted to bail out of a situation, but force myself to do it anyway, I am always faced with one of those synchronistic moments that suggests that life is a finely woven tapestry. Last night was one of those moments.

I met a guy in my Spanish as a second language Meetup group who was really nice and funny. His family is Spanish and Italian. They speak only Spanish at home, but he was born in the U.S. and speaks English otherwise. He never really took the time to learn the basic tenets of Spanish. We decided to hang out because he is about at the same level of understanding as I. In fact, we can both teach each other.

Last night we decided to get some pizza at Hollywood beach for his 29th birthday. We brought a blanket, a bottle of wine, and my bluetooth speaker so we could listen to some soft jazz. The night was warm and the moon full. The evening was amazing and could not have been more beautiful. However, just before I was about to leave, I had the feeling I just wanted to sleep. I had no desire to go at all. Still, for some reason, I did not cancel—mostly because it was my friend’s birthday, and I didn’t want to ruin his evening.

As he gets in the car, we begin to chat both in English and Spanish, mostly in Spanish. I thought, ah, this is why I’m here. I really do enjoy learning to speak in another language. A fantastic feeling of accomplishment happens when I find myself immersed in Spanish culture through the language.

As we began to share about our lives, he shared about his ex, which still seemed to sting, I could tell. He told me stories that sounded familiar, as we all have experienced people who care less for us than we do for them; we have all had people try to control us; and we have had people use us. I was compassionate to all of the above.

However, at the end of the story, he began to describe his ex. Incredulously, the only person he had ever cared for in his entire life happened to be the first guy I dated when I moved to Florida. I have dated three guys since I have been here for no more than three months each and broke up for much the same reason. None wasn’t the right one. But, what are the friggin’ odds of one of those 3 guys being his ex?

I look forward, now, to see the lesson behind all of this.

Every morning, I usually awaken with a desire to meditate and then say a long prayer while walking Coco, my dog. It’s a quiet and peaceful time. However, this morning, I awoke with fatigue, as if I did not sleep a wink. I took the walk with Coco and said no prayer at all. I tried to mutter a few words, but nothing wanted to come. (One aspect I insist of myself is to be a man who tries his best to be authentic. If nothing was coming, I decided to rest in that moment without guilt. Releasing myself from guilt is often a lesson in itself, especially for some of us who are perfectionists, by nature.)

When I got back to my home, though, I decided to make a stout cup of coffee and sit by the lake and intend, at least, for a wonderful day. The lake, the birds, and wild life always bring peace to my soul. When I sat there, I began to pray out loud, but in Spanish, not in English. (I have been studying Spanish for about 1 1/4 years, so the Spanish does not come perfectly—yet. A few times, my mind sat in check about what words to use. I ended up changing words and using palabras I don’t normally use in Spanish, which translated to something that felt just a little different. However, I went with it.)

Every morning, after my meditation, I read something spiritual or uplifting, both in English and in Spanish. This morning, however, I read only in Spanish.

Wouldn’t you know it, my reading was almost verbatim the exact prayer I prayed in Spanish by the lake, even using the same words as I was led to change. My heart and body went from half-awake to amazed, energized, and synchronized with Spirit. This was a synchronistic moment for me—one that gave me pause and was filled with auspicious power.

Ever since I became aware of synchronicity and its working in my life, I have decided that when a synchronistic moment came, I would believe that I was in the exact moment, at the exact time, completely present with Spirit. These synchronistic moments are divine gifts from Spirit!

Never underestimate the power of God working in and through you, every day. Even when you are under the weather, Spirit will lead you into a power and the surge of amazing—and even miraculous—perfection that is God moving through you every moment of every day.

Someone told me that whenever I am stuck or depressed, ask myself a question that I know would have a positive answer.

My question this morning was: “How can I effectively continue to manage my life, but, also, let go of the nagging control of the outcome of everything I do?” This, of course, is to avoid an anxious attachment to the outcome.

This is what I know: A week ago, a very old friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook. She was in the hospital emergency room and clearly in pain. I responded to the post, but made a mental note to continue to check in on her page to see about her recovery.

Three days later, I saw another picture of her looking restored and well. As I began to type my response to her, I saw a familiar face above my response line. Could it be? Is this my old friend from 28 years ago?

Alas, this was, indeed, Lorraine. I contacted her from that response. She immediately called me. She said that her mother and aunt had become ill and that she was coming to South Florida in three days. Would I be available?

I began to think about the synchronicity involved in discovering her picture, my other friend getting sick, seeing the post, even though I have 5000 friends and see about 1/100th of the posts I would like to see.

Three days later, as Lorraine and I we were talking and sharing at a Starbucks in the lobby of the hospital, I realized how absolutely pertinent my presence and her presence were to that moment. I recognized the sovereign power of God in organizing the intricate weave of our lives to create that incredible and deliberate moment.

So, how much easier is it for to answer my initial question now? I can avoid trying to control the anxiousness about the outcome of every audition and every idea in life by simply realizing that the same Power that organizes the universe… the same Mind that created humanity and keeps the planets circling the sun… the same Mind that brought me to this moment safely… graciously shares this Mind with me.

This same creative power of Mind that takes care of growing the plant after I sow the seed, also knows every pathway to my greatest success!

When we plant a seed in the ground, we do not have a great sensation, and it is not probable that the soil has any sensation either; but the seed planted in the creative soil will, nevertheless, produce a plant. “What is true on one plane is true on all.” Know what you are doing, just as definitely as the gardener does!

Mistakes or Spirit Intervening #change #DivineMind #mistakes #ScienceofMind #SOM #SpiritualLiving

Last evening, I had an interesting experience that brought a close friend and I enlightenment on the subject of Mistakes. Do we actually make mistakes in life or has life undergirded our own movement forward with Divine Intention?

My friend Carol and I had both received invitations to a gala for the Screen Actors Guild. We both put the date in our computers and said we would go there together. We were excited about the event and prepared accordingly to go together.

That evening, we were set to go, we got stuck in some traffic, but finally got to the event after about 80 minutes, which we didn’t fret about. However, when we arrived, we were instructed to go to a nearby restaurant for the festivities. When we reached the restaurant, we were only two of five people in the building, which was a little peculiar, as the place was to be full.

We discovered, soon after we arrived, that we had both written down the wrong date for the event. We had come to the Latin version of the SAG Gala. Soon, the room was filled with many Latin SAG affiliates, but not many of the people we expected to see.

The joke Spirit had placed was personal. Since I have been studying Spanish 3-4 hours a day for five months, I have been requesting of Spirit that I be placed with more Latin people as I am in need of much practical practice to perfect this new language. Carol and I met a few important people, ate some great food, and headed out rather quickly.

As we discussed the event of the evening, we talked about how strange it was that we both had written down the date incorrectly. We looked at the invitation, and it was clearly written in bold. So, both of us recognized the synchronicity of this event to be Spirit-Driven. What are the possibilities of both of us writing down the wrong day, and also, the less than likely possibility that another Gala would exist in Spanish the day after the one we thought we were attending?

This kind of synchronicity happens to me often. Whereas, in times past, I would be frustrated; now, I simply laugh. I know—with absolute certainty—that Spirit had delivered me (and in this case, Carol, too) to the exact place we needed to be in the exact moment. Neither one of us knew why or for what reason, but we both agreed with absolute certainty that the evening was divinely destined.

So, the next time you end up in the wrong place, late for something because of traffic, or have confused one thing for another, you may consider that this is Spirit intervening to get you to another place for another purpose, unbeknownst by you.

We plant the seeds. We take the actions to move forward. However, the growth of the seeds and the movement forward is always BY SPIRIT. So, letting go of our need to control every moment, the amount of time something needs to grow, and the way it grows; instead, let Spirit do Its divine work in your life. Be surprised by how the Spirit within knows better than your human consciousness. And for this reason, we ended stuck in traffic, writing down the wrong date, and bumping into the perfect person at the perfect time! Namaste!

Start a Chain Reaction of Good

“Pay it forward” became a phrase people began to use after a movie about the act of one good deed changing a series of people’s lives for the better. A simple act of kindness or doing what your heart tells you to do—instead of your ego mind—can, in fact, often lead to a place of a magical chain reaction of events where love becomes the catalyst for great change not only for you, but for the world.

How clear are you on your place in the world of doing good? Do you start off every day, waking up and thinking: I just need to get going, get to work, make money, and pay my bills? Or do you ask Spirit to lead you to the best path for the ultimate good of the world? The latter is certainly a harder choice. But if you choose divine purpose, your life will have more meaning than you ever thought it could?

About five years ago I read a Buddhist story about prayer. An explanation of selflessness was disclosed in the magic of doing what the world needed as opposed to fulfilling our own worldly desires. I realized then, that I had to make a choice daily to overcome my ego mind and seek to uncover, perhaps, sometimes a bitter pill to swallow to create the magic that is often called good.

As a result, I made a prayer altar in my room. I placed on it a large quartz crystal, a couple Christian relics, a Ganesh, a few holy objects that people have given me over the years, some of whom had passed away. I also placed a candle in the center. Every morning I stand or kneel before the altar and ask God to fill my heart with great purpose. I ask that I could put aside my own needs for the needs of the world.

Sometimes I fulfill my destiny and the will of the greater purpose. Sometimes I choose my own happiness instead. I’m not always successful, but I must say that in the past five years, almost every day I have said that prayer and intended to do my best. As a result, I stay in a place where I realize that I am in a world where Spirit has weaved a magical web of stories and lives that will ultimately end in Divine Destiny, probably even if I am not the one choosing good.

One of the ways I know that I am in God’s will is synchronicity. When I find myself in the midst of purposeful events that occur in ways that speak volumes to divine intention, I know I am on the path that is my destiny.

Today, I had one of those days. I went to church as I normally do with my mother. The preacher spoke of creating love in our lives. In his sermon he made reference to the book, “The Velveteen Rabbit.” It just so happened one of the singers in the special music this morning was a man I used to date. On my birthday he gave me a copy of the “Velveteen Rabbit.” I thought, what are the chances of something like this happening? He gave me the book six or seven years ago. And yet, God had intended to create this perfect moment for me today to realize that I was not lost in sea of madness, but was in His perfect will.

I have a deal with God that, if I give my heart and life for the will of the universe, that God will take care of my needs according to the riches in heaven and ultimately on earth. When I loose track of my spiritual goals, I always come back to this promise.

The past few months have been incredibly difficult financially. It seemed that everything that could possibly break or malfunction happened all at once, to the tune of twenty-one thousand dollars worth of bills.

In times past, I would have bit my lip and worried myself to death about how I would deal with all of the bills. But as of this week, the only means of dealing with my finances that I had to do was charge Peter to pay Paul. But in the end, bills were all paid and nothing was owed to any bank or person. I would say that this is a miracle working in my life to show me the wealth of good always giving to provide for my life and my mother’s.

Every day, part of passing the torch of good is actually writing this blog. I try to help people see Spirit’s work in my life and those who are close to me, so that you can also believe and trust in the power of Good in your own life.

I pray now that whomever God has reading this blog has read it by divine intervention. So, if this blog is something that has crossed your path today, close your eyes right now and know that God has you in His gentle hands and is tending to your every need according to His riches in Glory.

And so be it!
