Why Do You Keep Trying to Look Like the Image of Yourself? #relationshipadvice #spiritualadvice #personalpower #newthought

Maxwell Maltz, a famous author (Psycho-Cybernetics) and American plastic surgeon often spoke about the difference between making changes to the body and the insurgence of negative thoughts that would follow. These thoughts would almost always be contrary to how one would look inside as compared to how he or she appeared outside, even after major plastic surgery. So, how do we look authentic inside and out?
As most people do during middle age, I often struggled with a few pounds around the waist. This happens mostly in the winter (even though I live in Florida), because the swimming pool is too cold to do my daily ritual of 20-30 laps. When I’m swimming, I look at myself in the mirror and see a body that brings a feeling of pride. When I simply do my gym workout without the swimming, I stand on the scale and think: What the hell? How do I keep gaining weight? This just doesn’t make sense. (Even though I know I gained the weight because my eating and energetic output are not balanced.)
What’s happening on the outside has to mirror something that is in my mind, because nothing can make its way to our life unless it has already presented in your mind—absolutely nothing. So, during the winter, what could possibly be plaguing my mind enough for me to dicker with myself about my weight and the way I look?
Maxwell Maltz’s study began after he had operated on a series of people who had terrible birth defects or had been in accidents that caused major face reconstruction. He noticed that after a person had lived his or her entire life with a birth defect (especially on the face), that even after his or her face looked beautiful, peering in the mirror was difficult. The patients would see the old face, not the beautiful new face. Perhaps this is the case with people who have had bariatric surgery for weight loss, as well. Very often they end up gaining back much of the weight they initially lost. Below is a quote from one such bariatric patient with Lapband:
The fact is, the problem was never IN our stomachs, it was somewhere else within us: Our heads, our hearts, our self-esteem maybe. The band only helps us accomplish the PHYSICAL part of whatever our problem is that got us fat in the first place. It can ONLY control how much food you put in your body; it does NOT choose WHAT you put in your body. (http://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com)
The problem is never in the ways we try to appear different, ever! The issue about our looks is in our minds. If we don’t clear the issues from the past, the stressors, the negative thoughts that make you feel not good enough, not pretty enough, and not skinny enough is what must be worked on in tandem with any kind of weight loss or plastic surgery you try.
Dr. Maltz used hypnotherapy to help change the problems in the mind with great success. I have been a certified Clinical Hypnosis Practitioner for 25 years and have seen amazing results for people who changing the mind to change the story in their bodies. Let’s Talk Bluntly About Fat #weightloss #loseweight#weightgain #glutenfree

Let’s Talk Bluntly About Fat #weightloss #loseweight#weightgain #glutenfree

I have no bones about saying the word fat. In fact, admitting that you are overweight or fat is exactly what you have to do to make any kind of change in your behavior patterns. Now is the time to turn your body back to the healthy vessel it should be.

A staggering 68.5% of Americans are overweight and 38% are obese. The difference between overweight and obese is ratio of weight to height. Also, morbid obesity is a disease that is caused from having too much weight on your body, which manifests kidney, heart, liver, and muscular disease, not to mention the worse case of depression one can get. And don’t get me started about childhood obesity—also a staggering 38%, which is usually caused by parents who are obese. Can you imagine feeding your children the wrong food and causing them diabetes at a young age? This happens all the time, not because parents are generally careless, but because we are not educated about how and what to eat and what a child should to remain at a healthy weight. Eating and the computer age for children, with sedentary built into the equation, makes getting children to exercise also more difficult. Simply limit computer time to two hours a day. Your children will find something else more active to do.

In my estimation, after wrestling with some extra fat around my midsection for about five years, the problem was wheat gluten. You may think you want to stop here, but hear me out. You don’t have to give up bread or pasta to be gluten free. In fact, some of the gluten-free products are even better than the wheat products. Yes, you will have to give up beer and your beer gut, and, also, the only kind of vodka you can drink is a corn-based vodka called Titos, but you will find substitutes. I’m sure someone is already working on a great tasting beer for the near future that is gluten free.

I can honestly and say—forthright—that giving up gluten was easy. In fact, I barely even crave bread or sugary cakes or cookies anymore. If I have a sweet craving, I simply eat a gluten-free dessert. I’m not promoting sugar. I’m simply saying that giving up wheat isn’t the same as giving up dessert. This gluten-free business was a 5 billion dollar business last year, including cookies and cakes.

Businessmen expect the gluten-free business to double and triple in the coming years. Why? Because it works! Everyone I know who is successful at losing weight and keeping it off is on a gluten-free diet. And the benefits far outnumber the issue of spending a little extra money on the products.
As someone who is staying away from gluten, I feel my brain is functioning better, as there are fewer free radicals floating around up there in my noggin. My muscular problems, including arthritis, are so much better that I have been in 10 years. I have been able to do comfortably do yoga 6 days out of seven every week, included some more strenuous exercises, which wasn’t the case before I started.

Best news of all, in three months, starting out at 176 pounds, I am down to 156, and it happened without much effort at all. I am fitting into my slender clothes now and feel amazing about it, especially as I prepare to move, where shirtless is a mainstay.

I am moving to Southern Florida to begin a new small imprint publishing company called: Finding Authentic You Publishing: findingauthenticyou-publishing.com. I am accepting submissions now for my January 2015 bookshelf. If you or any friends are interested, please go to the website and read the submission guidelines. Thanks.

Finding Authentic You is my brand and is also a self-help guide, which I wrote, with 365 Discoveries, meant to aid you in facilitating some of life’s most difficult challenges, like sleep. But, the discoveries also lead you to what you believe spiritually, understanding your goals, learning to believe in your self, discovering the most distinct you, unlocking all of your negative thinking, and helping you replace it with positive, creative thought using many different modalities, including hypnosis, prayer, and psychology. Once you know yourself, then relationship with Spirit and people is a fairly easy task.

For much more information about finding out about the psychology of the human mind and being your authentic self, self-love, and self-esteem, check out my new book below. “Finding Authentic You” will answer many of the questions I propose above. The book also has many discoveries about health, both mental and physical, as well as spiritual discoveries to lead you to your highest and best! FAT: F-earful, A-imless T-hinking

F-A-T: F-earful, A-imless T-hinking

As most of you know, I have been having a time getting this damn extra 10 pounds off of my body. My struggle is really more of ambivalence, as most of the problem exists because I’m the happiest I’ve been in years. I simply don’t care enough to get motivated to take it all the way off and keep it off.

Something changed this week. It was significant. My friend Sharon decided to go on the diet with me. She had been reading a book on Ayurveda and got very excited about the different food groups she was supposed to eat to stay healthy. She shared with me my dietary restraints. I wasn’t all that happy about what I couldn’t eat, but decided a partner was the perfect solution to my problem.

So, together we started our diet. The first day I was just sick to my stomach the entire day. What I ate made me so nauseous that I wasn’t even hungry most of the day. Almost the entire next day I felt the same way. I lost almost 4 pounds in two days just from nausea. We also decided to exercise together four days a week. That, my friends, is what I knew would make the big difference. Instead of finishing work and sitting on my ass watching television, I was actually going to muster the energy to do aerobics for at least 50 minutes 4 times a week.

Because I’m bright (LOL), I know that if I exercise, I will burn calories. If I burn calories, I will lose weight. Also, as I have some dietary restraints, and I’m off of sugary goodies, much of my snacks are fruit and hummus and high-protein flax crackers that actually don’t taste too much like burlap.

But what about all of this is Fearful Aimless Thinking? The new perspective isn’t about F-A-T. The old perspective was. Fearful, because I felt that if I didn’t share in the fun food with my partner, I would be missing out on a great part of our relationship. Aimless Thinking, because I didn’t set a solid goal for myself and stick to it.

Today, I am seriously motivated. I actually feel I’m going to change some major problem areas in my diet and stick with it. This is much like one of my clients who came in with a couple of habits. He told me right off: “This may take me two session, or it may take me 50, but I need to do this my way and in my timing.”

I congratulated him for taking control. He knew what I know now, I’m not going to lose any weight until I am serious enough to make an effective change. No change happens unless it first happens in your mind.
