Settling into Happiness #peace #SpiritualPrinciple #lettinggooffear #spirituality #deservinghappiness

I could easily say that I have waited until this very moment to believe that I truly deserve happiness. I am not just talking about wealth, prosperity, gain of any kind in business or success in career. I Am not even speaking about relationship happiness, because all of these aforementioned things are temporary and ephemeral. In looking for happiness, I seemed to have checked behind every door, before I opened the one door that truly contained all of the great joy I could ever muster. That door was to my own heart.
Yes, I sincerely believe that the only place we can experience happiness is on the peaceful wave of total trust in God. This means releasing fear of all kind.
When I let go of fear, I can actually felt abundance grow organically from within. Life was waiting for me to get rid of the hindrances to my personal growth. When I trusted Spirit completely, I released control of the world, the responsibility of the next moment, anything outside of my next conscious breath, basically.
So, you may be asking yourself: What am I waiting for? If happiness is that simple, why have I waited so long to open the floodgates to it?
The truth about letting go of fear is that most people have no clue as to how to begin releasing the only friend that has stayed along for the ride their entire life. Let’s face it; fear has become a constant companion and something that you can trust to be there when everyone else and all else sleeps. It stays awake with you. It binge-eats with you. It complains when you do not have enough money for bills. It even bitches when a relationship has gone awry. Basically, fear is the one remaining, fundamental constant that has been with you since you could remember Mom turning out the overhead lights above your crib and saying goodnight.
On that momentous night, fear met your anxiety in the dark. It introduced itself as something scary and oblique. It took many years and many head-on collisions with it, before you realized when you stood in the light, the fear had little to no power. You knew, deep inside, that if you did not let it go, it would take over your life, even in the light.
So, slowly, you began to release it. Bit by bit. Step by step. Then, suddenly, you realized that you even weighed less as a result of not carrying it around with you day in and day out. Nothing felt better than something. Nothing, though it scared the living hell out of you, felt better than the burdens of fear. Yes, nothing. “What is another word for nothing going on in your mind?”
Finally, you took another step forward, beyond thinking nothing and decided to “do nothing.” You waited for life to just simply BE. In that moment, in the waiting, you realized that you were powerless to the one constant in life—CHANGE.
That’s what you really feared, wasn’t it? In that one moment you let go, you were filled with the agonizing, yet thrilling drop toward Spirit’s open arms. Alas, peace met you and took a seat inside your heart.
Had you known that the only fertilizer that you needed to grow every dream, including personal relationships was peace, you would have invited it in a long time ago.

Letting Go

Letting Go

I sat at the movies watching “Silver Linings Playlist” and suddenly my heart began to pound out of my chest. I felt as if all the doors in the theater were being locked. I was transported back to a time in my life when my father was drunkenly beating up my brother to a pulp. I lay on the top bunk for a half of the scenario. Then I jumped out of bed and ran to the neighbor’s house for help.

I watched from an observer’s perspective as my entire body seized with pain and anxiety. I had to leave the theater or I would have curled up in a ball and cried like a baby. PTSD had hit me and hit me hard.

This, however, was the first time in my life I had really been able to watch what was happening. Maybe, because I understood what was going on, the experience hit me harder than I had ever remembered. I drove home, which I don’t recommend, and called a therapist friend as I drove (another bad decision). After fifteen minutes of talking me down from the bridge, I realized I was driving in the wrong direction. I had been disoriented enough that I didn’t even know where home was. I ended up 10 minutes from Columbia, going in the complete opposite direction.

Since then, I have had a few PTSD moments. A couple of them have happened during the night. A dream sparked some terrible anxiety in me. I had to get up, do some EMDR exercises and meditate before I was able to get back to sleep.

Can you release something that your body and mind doesn’t want to let go of? This is a question I have asked myself many times. I believe that whatever anxiety or stress is holding on like glue, will someday—with clear, empowered belief and therapy—will be released.

My point in all of this is that now I am seeing what is happening as it is happening. I had never understood why I would act out of character sometimes and get cold and withdrawn. Now, I’m perfectly aware—so, aware, that I can ask my partner to help me as these emotions are surfacing.

Great relationships are wonderful when someone is compassionate enough to help you work through some deep issues. I suspect that God intended for us to work out most of our deepest relationship issues with our life partner, because he or she understands us in a way no one else does or would care to.

If you deal with this kind of stronghold, I recommend starting with some therapy. Many practitioners of all kinds exist to help people with disabling problems. Choose the modality you feel is right for you by doing Google searches and seeing what therapy best suits your problem. For me, Hypnosis and EMDR, which are very similar modalities are the most effective when it comes to PTSD. In fact, a great deal of my family therapist and social worker therapists are using hypnotic techniques to uncover deeply seated fear and anxiety with Parts Therapy, breathing exercises, and Regression techniques, specifically developed all through hypnosis.
