Involution occurs when something turns in upon itself. It refers to:
- In mathematics, a function that is its own inverse;
- In medicine, the shrinking of an organ (such as the uterus after pregnancy);
- In philosophy, a "turning in" on one's own self; (example: the inner path of the human soul to the Self); and
- Esoterically, the contemplation of involution, which may produce several notions of its counterpart—evolution. (Wikipedia)
I speak of involution, because I have been contemplating the differences in individuals who seem to self-reflect to become better people and those individuals who appear to have no clue that a world exists outside of themselves or, conversely, inside.
First of all, to have a manifestation, such as human beings, there must be a creative Source that formed and shaped humanness. We will call that source, God. So, God wants to create something. In God’s want, God produces a subjective field of consciousness that can manifest Its wishes and thoughts, but does not have its own volition—the Soul. (This is similar to the earth having no volition. It simply grows what we plant.)
Second, if God decided to manifest in form, it would produce a subjective field that was like itself, because God and anything else in the universe produces in kind. It would not make sense for God to do otherwise. In other words, humans don’t produce baby rabbits. We produce humans. So, God creates in kind through an energetic field that is like Itself.
We know God as Spirit. When God created humans in Its likeness, God produced, in kind, Spirit beings—you and I.
So, why is it that some humans experience involution and other don’t seem to? This is my own judgment. Since none of us are the author and finisher of creation, we probably shouldn’t judge whether some are growing spiritually and others aren’t.
There is no other Mind or Source than Infinite Knowingness. So, I have to come to the conclusion that this same Mind knows, when, how, and where to establish growth in each of us. We know this with certainty about physical and mental growth. It would be fair to create an assumption that spirituality is also part of this divine plan of growth. We all are evolving; albeit some before others, but that is the nature of all things.
Let our self-examination take us to our own truth, so we keep from judging others.
