I remember the days when science and spirituality were as far apart as creationists and paleontology. Every day, however, physics seems to prove—more and more—what spiritual teachers have been preaching all along. Everything has its beginning in energy and intelligence. What else could this energy and intelligence be but that which most of us have been calling God or Spirit?
The fact that science has form and tangibility, with proven facts and ways to prove theories is very inviting to the human mind. We want to know that what we believe is based on fact or truth. So, when science and religion find the proper mixture or truth and reality, we will probably have a spiritual practice that is palatable to all.
The above is what has attracted me to the metaphysical side of spirituality. I have always been one who has actively searched for reason and shape to my belief. I want to know that my spiritual practice also has form and reason.
Should we not expect our belief to have results?
If you read authors such as Marianne Williamson, Eckhart Tolle, Depak Chopra, Ernest Holmes, Charles Fillmore, and Don Miguel Ruiz, you probably stand in agreement with me. As you can see, I have read both the old and the new and have found very little difference in the teachers who began New Thought and those who seek to unite many religions and philosophies into one spiritual message today.
I love the idea of Unity and bless those who seek to do the right and compassionate act, even in the face of dangerous results. We must always be looking for the fruit of the Spiritual tree. That is our mission. If one teaches and is not practicing truth, then what reason is there to believe?
We cannot simply plant the tree and let God grow the tree without waiting around to see the fruit or the beautiful flower. So, too, in science we wait around to see the proof of a theory. I do not mind waiting for the fruit of the seeds I have planted in Spirit so long ago or even yesterday.
Everything in our spiritual world is beginning to come to full fruition in these days, as science unites with the great spiritual thinkers of the old and the new. If we are smart, we will be peacefully waiting to see the delicious, relevant fruit of all that we believed. If not now, then soon.
