We walk in blind faith the majority of our lives. Every principle of any law is simply an idea. These blind principles can only be proven by a condition happening over and over again. For instance, concrete will create a firm place to walk and drive. This principle is proven through many of us confidently walking on concrete and not falling through. However, many people have died as a result of falling through concrete during an earthquake, which would lead us to believe that this fact is true only sometimes. Still, we confidently walk on concrete everyday.
Another different but equally mind-boggling example of a concept we blindly believe in is beauty. Beauty is an idea in the mind of man. The fact that something or someone is beautiful is subjective to whom is viewing the beauty. However, few could see a peacock spread its feathers and not see beauty. But, is this principle a proven fact?
So, I conclude that the amount of faith in what we believe of any principle in our lives, actually allows us to live in a somewhat secure world—but, only in our minds.
Why is it, then, that when we are asked to believe in other such principles—such as the existence of a Creative Source or God, that some of us scoff? “Why is it necessary to believe in God to be spiritual?” I have been asked recently.
It is simply not necessary to believe in God to be spiritual. The idea or definition of spirituality is dependent upon the person believing in it. In other words, if you believe that spirituality is only morality, kindness, and a connection to nature, then you can be atheist and be spiritual. However, if you believe that spirituality is trusting in the principles of faith, believing in miracles, and manifesting wholeness and prosperity from the power of your mind, you may think otherwise.
Many in history have defied some laws of disease or a law of nature to produce, what some would consider, miracles. Personally, I have known of people who have had a huge cancerous mass one-day, and the next day scientific tests had proven the mass was gone.
I have known of circumstances that looked insurmountable to be changed in an instant, when every law of mathematics and engineering would prove otherwise. So, when I see Faith changing circumstances such as these, I begin to believe that if miracles could happen even once, they could happen again. And, why should I believe otherwise, even when my attempts at proving this same principle have fallen short?
The premise of Faith in a Law is familiar to everyone on earth. We do not have to reach too much further in our minds and hearts to believe in something that is unseen, because we do it our entire lives, every hour of every day. All principles are unseen. They are merely proven by the likelihood of that principle manifesting over and over again.
The problem with Faith as a principle in Spirituality is that it seems to work sometimes, but not every time. But, if something—anything—has worked a few times, it is very likely that it will work again if produced in the correct way.
In fact, if a scientist happened on a cure for cancer by leaving a petri dish in a cold place, instead of a warm place; then, that scientist would continue to try to reproduce the same circumstance over and over again until he achieved the original results that cured cancer. Why? Because, he knows that if the cure had been produced once, it must be able to be produced again.
Well then, I proclaim, that if miracles happened once, they can be produced again! But, not many of us are willing to work on honing the skills of producing substance from faith. Few of us are like the scientist who will work day and night to achieve that same circumstance over and over again, to make sure that his findings are true.
As spiritual people, we get perturbed after a few tries at faith and give up. “Ah… I’ll leave faith up to the minister or the practitioner,” most say, “I’ll never understand this concept, and cannot even conceive of getting it right!”
What if we really knew that God created us in Its image—that we were made of the same substance and shared the same Mind as the God who created the universes? Would we then, be assured of the power of our words, of the magnitude of our faith, and manifest in kind?
I wonder if more of us spiritually inclined people would spend a lot more time attempting to hone our creative skills, if we would happen upon a cure for our own disbelief.
